I too have a DD Mods Bezel wrapped in leather. I have the Kenwood 9903s with Morel components up front, JLs in the rear and a 10in JL sub. All powered by a Kenwood amp. Sounds much better than stock. Like others have said, has apple car play and android auto.
This is a good amp The Kenwood 900. I have this running My Rockford Fosgate Speakers.
thats exactly what it is. He must have painted some significant number to him on it.
I plan to go double din soon. Then again, I also planned to go double din soon when I got the car, 5 years ago.
Painted numbers on it ?? Maybe I’m missing something ? If your screen is black then apparently it isn’t working correctly. I’m not sure how you would adjust your temperature controls if in fact it was impossible to see where the controls were set.

dont worry, you'll wake up one day and find out what we're talking about hahaha. It's a known issue for the screen to go dim. Simple fix, but I've been putting it off until I do the double din in order to not risk breaking the bezel removing it twice.
Double din or go home. Just get yourself a good quality receiver, and may I suggest, test it before you buy it if you can. Some things aren't always as they seem...

Ah okay now I understand, I’ve apparently been very fortunate to avoid many of the known issues. ( knock on wood) if mine goes dim I’ll know who to reach out to. 😎
Double DIN for my ‘03 Z. Got the bezel from Dennis at DD Mods. Unfortunately he stiffed me on the rest of the system. Got the Kenwood 9904, Focal speakers, JL sub and amp from a local shop and had them install. Looks and sounds great! Love it!

Nice, are you happy with it? How did you get stiffed?
I haven't seen one person write a negative about doing a double DIN. Same for me. I have a Kenwood DNX691HD, which is a slightly older unit. It still has the Garmin NAV, sirius, bluetooth, backup camera, handsfree, etc. Actually, the least of the reasons I did it was for the radio. If I listen to music I prefer the sirius XM. I drive my car for work a lot and I really like having all the extra features. My other cars are newer so this brings the Vette into the modern era, like them. Had things still been the same with Dennis at DDMods, I would tell you my experience with him was great. I got a good buy and he was very helpful during installation. I wasn't entirely happy with the finish, but with assistance from some friends who have custom upholstery shops, I covered mine myself in leather. Didn't come out too bad for my first time. Definitely worth all the time I have invested in it. That bezel from Vettenuts looks great. Anyone considering doing a double DIN, don't hesitate. Once you do it you'll wish you had done it sooner. It's worth for the NAV and backup cam alone.
I did it as well, however I'm cheap and made my own cause I wanted it a certain way. I'll wrap it in leather when I take it back out. Hands free and navigation in a stick shift car is a must IMO.

If you want to give your C5 a more modern look as well as add some upgraded electronics such as Nav and sat radio, then yes, do the double din.
I agree one hundred percent. Went with a cover from Dennis, Pioneer receiver with sirius, navigation, 4 speakers in each door, triaxials in rears, with a 10" ported powered sub in the rear storage. Best part..besides the DD and the sub grille, all else looks stock. Sound quality and electronic toys greatly improves the driving experience!
Agree with my friend Striper. It’s a shame how Dennis left the Corvette people, and I wont judge anyone who states they were stiffed because from what I’ve observed, they were. He really left in a bad way, which is totally opposite from how he treated me. We even BS’d about head units and other things during my phone calls to him, which he answered.
JEFF, are you having some adhesion problems on the bezel? I have a solution now, since I’m now covering mine with matching diamond stitched leather.
SHAOLIN, you removed the entire radio frame from the car! Did you remove the entire upper dash to do that? Just curious.
BREWMEISTER, I have never had a visibility problem with my targa off, but its not the same as a convertible, if thats what you have. I would guess sun hitting from the back of the car might be a problem, but the Kenwood has a tilt feature which works well on that problem. In fact when my roof is ON, I have it tilted up from the bottom, with the targa off, it’s vertical.
Double Din is an absolute must. You not only get the benefits of a better sounding stereo, esp if you swap out speakers and add an amp and a sub, but you get the benefit of built in navigation and the safety of hands free phone use via bluetooth if you purchase a head unit with the necessary skill set. It also really updates the interior of your car and modernizes it. To take it a step further, sound deadening is a huge upgrade and the combination of the two cannot be overstated. It will transform the interior experience of your ride.

I could not have said it better myself. When doing a full audio install you have to take the 50% of the interior our for wiring etc so its the perfect time to install a insulation kit. We have installed 100's of them at the shop along with full audio and the owners will testify the car is truly transformed! Its a completely new feeling car that has been brought into the 21st century!
We sell everything you need for your audio and insulation kits on our web site. We are working hard to get our audio packages up and live in the next few weeks.
Let me say this to you.
If you are going though the expense of replacing your radio, do it right the first time, have no regrets, I should of added something. Later is to late.
I would do with radio, with back up camera, bluetooth for your IPOD & phone, Sirius radio, incase you decide you want it down the road. Has for GPS, I didn't cause I have Garmin, which is easy to update with new maps, and lifetime of updates which I could use in different cars.
Do your homework, and enjoy.
Agree with BlownZ. In particular Apple/Android CarPlay. To me it works much better than any Bluetooth unit I’ve ever used. The fact that it lets you keep your eyes on the road. With Siri, there’s just one button to touch. Now if it only could take over the HVAC!
