I just came back into the Corvette world last week by picking up my third C5 Z06 and was wondering about the tire thing too. I solved my issue by buying a set of Mallet wheels from a fellow forum member and will be getting MPS4'S soon.
I think Toyo still makes 265-40/17's. At least they were available last fall. It would seem that as far as I can ascertain, Goodyear, Michelin, Toyo (maybe), and Bridgestone (which seems to be phasing them out)are the only companies that still supply stock size front Z06 tires. Why is that? There were over 28000 C5 Z06s manufactured and the ones that are still alive all need tires.
Wrong Bob Yello95There are two Bob's in this thread....Let's be polite
...I WAS polite...I was talking to Chasboy and I was jokin about (Bob)Calguys Closet...and the tires he had stored in his closet...no other Bob in this thread has a closet with tires in them...thanks for participating

I didn't read through the rest of the comments, but I'll give you my opinion. If you are only driving on weekends and cruising, and are on a budget I would go with Cooper zeon rs-3. Best bang for the buck, are quiet, and have great tread wear. Many guys in the C6Z crowd run these as they are cost effective and decent.
Now from here, you can start getting into tires such as michelin pilot sports, and other name brands that have better performance, but cost over double the price, so IMO really comes down to driving habits and what you are looking for.
What? You keep tires in your closet........what am I missing here Bob? other than a brain...
I bought 4 tires last fall(though i didn't need them) because the price was right, and a friend that deals in the financial market told me the price of rubber is going up this year, and it only made sense to try and save some bucks.
The tires are stored in a spare closet, and wrapped so as to keep them from any air contaminants that can effect the rubber.
I learned this from Continental tires where they discussed the proper way to store tires.
And just in case someone comments about making sure the tires aren't old, the front were manufactured in September 2017, and the rears August 2017.
