Default Replacement tires

I have ordered OEM chrome wheels (17" and 18") and need new tires also, I currently have 265/40ZR17 and 295/35ZR18 and would like to replace with Goodrich but they don't make these tires. I still want Goodrich but don't know what to use. I was told TA's but again I don't know enough (0) about tires. Would appreciate your help. Thanks, Jim

Your choices in stock Z06 size tires are unfortunately limited. Tire Rack only shows two choices - Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars and Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport, although the site says the front Bridgestones are out of stock.

I just had tires put on today--continental extreme contacts. I purchased BFG GForce comp 2s, which are a W speed rating...the shop refused to put them on due to the C5 being a Y speed rated car. I had tire rack send the set of Continentals.

Just driving around today the Continentals seem to be doing the trick!

Why did I go with the BFGs first? Other members on the forum are running with them. I could have found a shop that would mount them, but I decided to just cough up the extra ~$150. The old tires were goodyears up front (6 yrs, 50K miles) with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s in the back (4 yrs, 25K miles). I could have done michelins again, but changed things up.

There are a bunch of threads about tires with just as many opinions...my word of caution would be to find a shop willing to mount other than Y speed rated tires FIRST, if you choose to get tires that aren't Y rated.

My tires are 245/45ZR17 and 275/40ZR18...changing the tire size you're running on the 17 and 18 inch wheels may give you more options.

When I had my Z, I knew full well that my choice 5 years ago was limited then. I refused to pay Goodyear or even Michelin prices. I went with theno longer available Vredestien Ultrac Sessanta’s in 275 in front and 295 in rear. You can switch to a 275 in front with no worries.

I have Continental extreme contact on my 04 for coming up on four years now.
Still wearing well, and smooth, and quiet ride.
I have 4 brand new extreme contact dws sitting in my closet, ready to be put on in spring, or summer.
I highly recommend these continental tires.

Do a search, many good reviews on them

Bob.

The Tire Rack website shows that Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires are available in 265/40-17 and 295/35-18. They are pricey, but Michlein does make very good tires.

The Brigestone tire at TR shows good prices, but it looks like there may not be two front tires available.

One thing you can do is to substitute a 275/40-17 tire for the fronts. I have that size on the front of my '02 coupe along with the 295/35-18's in back. No issues.

The tire sizes you have now, were any mods needed for proper fitment (rubbing)? I didn't realize I may be able to go that wide with 17x8.5's and 18x9.5's. Would love to widen the stance that much. Thanks .

They were on the car when I bought it, and when I turn the wheel sharp there is a rubbing sound.

Shouldn’t be, those are the stock c5 wheel sizes. Z06 is 9.5 and 10.5

Thanks. I may go with 255/45's up front just to play it safe and 285/40's in the back. A little better than the stock stance.

I think Toyo still makes 265-40/17's. At least they were available last fall. It would seem that as far as I can ascertain, Goodyear, Michelin, Toyo (maybe), and Bridgestone (which seems to be phasing them out)are the only companies that still supply stock size front Z06 tires. Why is that? There were over 28000 C5 Z06s manufactured and the ones that are still alive all need tires.
