TUNED ???? Why tune it if you are not happy with the performance. A full dyno tune is $400-$500.

Find a Tuner that will work with you and see if its already been tuned. EFI Live and HP Tuners can compare the OEM Stock tune to what is in the PCM now and the tuner should be able to tell you if its good or bad.

Reguardles. Before you do ANY tuning, I would change the O2 sensors, clean the MAF, new plugs nd clean the throttle body. That way, you have a KNOWN good baseline if it ever starts running bad.

For instance,,, If you tune on old faulty O2 sensors and one or both go bad, you insert new sensors and now the tune is no longr accurate at part throttle cruise.

That is good information from all you guys! I appreciate the help. I will keep everyone informed and once I do the tear down and build up I will make sure I take picts. I was running some tests on it tonight and about 2000 rpm then ease off the throttle you could here a lifter tapping around the #7 cylinder under deceleration and steady on the gas.

Those conditions could easily mean you also have an exhaust leak. Both sound very similar.

It has new header gaskets and the collectors and the headers themselves. Hmmm. Now you have me really curious. Thanks for bringing that up. I will do some further investigating.
