Earlier on this month picked a c5 Vette coupe
has all leather,Bose, dual zone air, power seats with lumbar on both passenger and driver, aftermarket radio with bluetooth, hid head light, led reverse lamps, vararam intake, cat back exhaust, run flat tires on ZO6 wheels. I took out the vararam velocity air stack was getting stuck in my throttle body or something. It used to be a 4 speed auto according to the the vin but has a 6speed manual not sure if t/56 or something else. Cars pulls hard . Can’t give it more then under half throttle at 45-55 in 2nd car wheel hops or spins same goes for 3rd anywhere from 55-70 something. Wondering if motor work has been done like a cam or head/ I take swap from a Z06 ls6??? But this is my first v8 car so i don’t know if this would be normal power for these cars !

It’s really effort less to spin and wheel hop. Tires have near full tread. I will look up the rpo codes later on this evening. Noticed the differential has been changed as well. Had it 72-130 in 4th didn’t wheel hop just all go before I could shift thought it’s best to slow down. How much power would ya say it’s priducing to wheel hop at those speeds and gear ? After searching the build codes it would appear no swap from auto to manual car report was off on that part.

Did you say you had run flats? If you have a fairly stock car you shouldn't be wheel spinning that much. I go back to the age of the tires, especially run flats. I have heard guys comment they get hard as a rock with time and with a new set of tires it becomes a completely different vehicle.

I agree that the first thing to do is check the date codes on the tires. Even though they may look new, they may be quite old and therefore not the best in terms of traction or safety. As for what may have been done to the car, if you can connect with the prior owner that would be best. The dealership would know who that was and if they are willing to contact him and ask if it would be OK if they gave you the contact info, you would probably get some answers. Good luck.
Great tip about the flats getting hard. I just figured because the tread was good it’s all good. Didn’t see any weather checking. But they do feel like rocks. Will check the date codes and post a update. Found a date code on Michelin pilot sport Y rated 3201 last 4 . Meaning they were manufactured in 32nd week of 2001?
