laughs at aero and then talks about a car built for racing.
*shakes head*
Let me clarify, common knowledge always says the coupe has better aero which I can’t deny but is always brought up even though the vast majority of C5’s won’t be driven at speeds high enough to matter.
When GM made the kit cars they could have just as easily chose the coupe with its highly rated aero numbers but they didn’t, they chose the FRC.
To some people my remarks make perfect sense?? *shakes head*

oh no your remark makes sense. But you're also pretending like GM looked at that and said "this is going to be the most epic track car ever".
That's simply not how it happened. Entry level car that had stiff suspension fitted to it to help it sell.
I don't dislike the FRC. i almost bought one. But the lack of space inside was a killer for me. if it makes you feel exclusive then hey, that's great.
for what they're pulling now i still agree with velocity vette that the Z06 is an easy choice for the body style.

Don’t want to be argumentative but I’m not pretending anything, and I am pretty well versed in how it happened. I simply stated a fact that the only pretense to a race version they offered in kit form was the FRC. I do realize that when Chevy went racing with the C5R it was the coupe version even if very little of the original car was left.
You oversimplified the FRC somewhat but not off much from the original intention. It was supposed to be an entry level car but by the time they made it to dealers few were very entry level. I have only heard of two FRC cars that had a manual drivers seat which would really probably indicate a stripped down car. Only a few options were not available on the hardtops. The memory package, power passenger seat, power telescoping wheel and adjustable suspension and to keep the cost down they included the manual transmission, Z51 suspension, power steering cooler as standard equipment that you had to pay extra for on the coupe and convertible.
I don’t feel exceptional, just blessed. If I misconstrued your first reply and head shaking I apologize.
Of the 33,000 units produced in '00 - I believe about 2000 were FRC - but they were intended to be "lower-cost models" - even though they got the go-fast goodies. On paper the FRC would have had the lowest MSRP. Yet when I was at Carlisle - a few eyebrows were raised when I mentioned I had a non-Z06 FRC...

I originally went shopping for a Z06, but nothing within my means and in decent shape was popping. I grabbed my 2k FRC, and I love it, even if it will never sell high.
I just got a 24k cash offer for my C5Z with 61k and the mods the guy wanted (stock internals and no forced induction)....suspension, brakes, wheels/tires, etc. C5Z's have bottomed in value and only high miles and less condition will reduce them any further...same with the FRC's.
FRC's will hold right with the Z06's....your everyday targa cars and verts...especially the autos...they'll bottom somewhere in the mid to high 4 figures. All the guys with the low mile auto coupes and verts are going to have a hard time because as C6 comes down to compete in the upper teens, going C5 over 12k becomes a real conscious choice to go C5 vs C6.
I believe FRC's and C5Z's will retain their place with enthusiasts vs the base. At 10k-12k, I don't think there is a better deal out there than an FRC....period.

I was finding FRC's in the 8-11 range. Right where i was finding similarly priced coupes. Verts were all over the place. I was also finding 100-120k mile z06's for 12-14k.
whether or not the FRC sells easier at the same price as the coupe i have no idea. But they're still not hard to find at similar price points as the coupe.
As always, your pricing will refer to used/abused cars owned by various demographics in Florida and California. You see an FRC under 10k, you have a car that needs tires, torque tube rebuilt, various small fixes and likely has exterior and interior wear that's heavy...same with your Z06 example.
Random deals are always going to be out there, but a 12k Z06 has been pounded on harder than a lot lizard, that's a guarantee.

I passed on an immaculate 00 Frc in Texas pewter with perfect interior and exterior long tubes intake tuned etc
Stop looking at retail sales. Private market is $17K-$20K. If you're paying over $20K for any C5 sans maybe the lowest of mileage '04 Commemorative Z06 you're a fool.
You can find Z06s with 30K or less miles for around 17k in the private market?
At their age it depends on condition. I specifically wanted an Arctic White FRC when I bought mine, and was willing to pay more for what I wanted. I bought mine in 2005, and have held onto it ever since.

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Some people see them as the Billy Bob version, others see it is a slightly lighter alternative. Others prefer the looks (myself included).
i bought my frc 6 months ago... and they was all going for higher then a coupe. but i love the FRC look with the long flat trunk. IMO i think they look 10x better, i would not own a coupe. they seemed to be selling for 3k more. i paid 15,500 for my 2000 with 34k miles... drove 300 miles to get it.
