No way but the current owners won't agree. They are more rare because there was less demand for them. They cost less to buy new. Personally I'd prefer a vert or coupe but ....
The FRC factor did not help me selling my 99.
It's only popular with people that take their C5s to the track.
I have gone to a 98 Vert now and I like it much better.
All FRCs (Fixed Roof Coupes) are manual transmission. Considering how difficult it can be to find a "good" manual transmission car - production for the targa and convertible were below a fourth of total production with a manual transmission - some buyers may be willing to pay a little extra to ensure they get a manual transmission. Generally I price manual transmission C5s roughly $500-$1,000 above an automatic transmission counterpart out of principle.
Used to a good handful of people preferred the similar looks to the Z06 and it's fairly easy to pass off an FRC as a Z06; badges, Z06 wheels, red rail covers, exhaust, and you're effectively good to go. Nowadays though the Z06 has dropped so far in price that you might as well just get a Z06.
yes and no....funny answer. On paper you wouldn't think so....but real world...many people value an FRC much higher than a regular coupe. Some people want the hardtop and that you can get arctic white, nassau blue and pewter where you couldn't get those in the Z06.

This is just my opinion, but I wouldn’t place a higher value on an FRC over one of the other models. But someone who really likes the FRC body style may pay more for the right car.
I have a friend who needs to sell (waiting him out). he is asking $16,500 fo a 2000 FRC 43k miles, nearly ment condition.
if im right KBB estimates it (private seller to buyer) between $10,000 and $14,000,and the other coups between $17 and $19k
am i close?
Why would you pay more for a FRC? They were the least expensive option and the only plus, in my opinion, is the faux Z06 look.
I personally like the look, but if I was looking for one would expect to pay less than other models of similar mileage and condition.
i was finding nice FRC's for 10k or less like 2 months ago. i actually paid a little more for my coupe because it was exactly what i wanted than a couple of really decent FRC's.
My buddy built cars and worked for black dog racing and he completely talked me out of an FRC. According to him and the guys there, the poor aero wasn't worth it. and apparently the chassis stiffness is a bit overhyped...

Thank you I am learning about the values and you all are reasuring what i was thinking but needed to hear it from thoes who know for sure. were their a limited number made and does that come into play, I asking because he has already mentioned how rare they are.

time of year plays a HUGE factor too. in feb and march cheap C5's were everywhere. the one guy on here sold an anniversary z06 for mid teens (with good miles). they all dried up though. I was finding decent C5's for 7-10k. i paid 11 for mine. and i felt like i overpaid until i started seeing spring/summer pricing lol.
In Michigan I know of two friends who own used car lots, according to them the FRC sells better than the Coupe and at the same price as the vert during May June and July and then fall to the lowest pricing during Sept-April. Might just be a seasonal thing.
Stop looking at retail sales. Private market is $17K-$20K. If you're paying over $20K for any C5 sans maybe the lowest of mileage '04 Commemorative Z06 you're a fool.

couple of months ago there were a bunch in the mid teens. they're definitely out there.
Everybody wants their version to be worth the most. They can give you all kinds of reasons, I always chuckle at the the aero since you have to be going well beyond the 100 mph mark to matter. Convertibles are worth more to people who have to have a vert. People who have to have every bell and whistle and a lift off top coupes are worth more to them. Z06 people are only going to be happy with a Z06 and will pay more. FRC’s will always be more valued (notice I said valued not worth) to people like me. I prefer the FRC body style to the coupe, I like the low volume numbers produced, I like the fact that when GM decided to build a “kit car” for RACING they chose the FRC. If money were no object I’d have one of each.
If you don’t like the FRC body style don’t buy one just because it’s cheap or cheaper. FRC’s are much better off in the hands of those of us who love them.

laughs at aero and then talks about a car built for racing.
