For those that have changed their trans fluid to redline/amsoil/other ..... do you notice 'easier' shifts? I installed an MGW shifter and made my own shaft using the OE handle, so it's probably an inch taller than MGW shaft so it gives a little more leverage. Also changed tranny fluid but still have high effort going into gears. 1st gear is the worst. I did the 'anti venom' mod to the detent but it's still high effort when hitting the synchros. Shifts easy when sitting in the garage. I'm hoping there's an atf that helps. Thanks!

I did-I put Amsoil in ours. I used a supporting member on here i think?. Brad from 66Racing. He was totally awesome to deal with and answered all my questions quickly. And yes, i "thought" it shifted much smoother. Ours was very tough to get into 1st on the downshift, but both the wife and I thought it shifted much smoother/easier after the change. (But i don't know what or how long the po had the previous fluid in there, so not a great comparison). You will get a ton of opinions/recommendations from others who have a ton more vette experience/knowledge than I do for sure, but i like the Amsoil for the type of driving we do for sure

I'm sure there are lots of opinions. My hope is that there are others (like you) that have seen a noticeable & definite improvement with one of specialty brands.

I changed the tranny and diff oils in my '01 C-5 when the car was a year old. I put the appropriate Red Line brand lubricants, and have been happy with their performance. With respect to less than stellar shifts, have you tried doing the "neutral gate alignment" procedure with your shifter?
I have an MGW shifter and it is aligned per the instructions. As stated, it shifts great with the engine off. It's 'stiff' when driving and going up against the syncros.
I personally, think the 6 speed that came in them just SUCK!
used stock shifter , and others . changed clutch , tranny fluid ! still shifts *BLEEP!*
maybe it is just me , and i cant shift?
but , if clutch is in , and it still dont want to go in gear...... What else can one say?
I've had a couple vehicles throughout the years where tranny fluid made a significant difference in shift quality and effort. Synchronizers work better with some fluids than others. I'd like to hear from those that have had a positive experience with brand xxx so I don't have to try them all!
I don't agree that it 'sucks' .... but I'd like to make shifts a little smoother. It's actually good now but I'd like it to be a little better. I've installed the MGW with a modified stock shaft. The throw is reduced from stock and the shaft is a couple inches shorter than OE. I've installed two washers on the detent and have changed the ATF. So the only thing left to try and find is an 'optimum' atf

I recently changed out the trans fluid and rear end gear oil and used Amsoil. After doing some research, it seemed like the Signature Series Multi-Vehicle ATF was best for regular road use. It was noted that the other popular one, the Torque-Drive (I think), could result in tougher shifts due to it's properties.
That said, it does shift smoother and I have no problems downshifting into any gear including first. Definitely worth it.
This is off-post, but since they're right next to each other, changing out the rear end gear oil at the same time is a snap. That made a huge difference in how the car runs and turns. Also, the rear definitely is staying cooler after a hard run.
hmmm....that is interesting! I used the torque drive in mine and i think it shifts great? . OP-IF you decide to go with amsoil (definitely don't want to start a "which fluid is best" discussion!) it might be worth a quick hit to Brad at C66Racing on here. He is awesome IMO about answering questions and being up front and honest. Good luck man-hope you find the right combo!
