Default Purchase Advice

I normally hang out in the C4 section as I have a 85 Z51. However, I am looking at a 99 C5. It has 118K on it, The car looks and drives great however has a few issues that have to be addressed. The ABS light is on and the air conditioner blows cold on the passengers side but hot on the drivers side. Also has a small amount of wear on the drivers bolster. Can you advise me of the seriousness of these issues as well as other items I should be looking for. He is asking 10K..
Thanks in advance,
JW

The ABS problem could be very expensive, if it involves the EBCM. GM no longer makes the module.

Personally I might shy away from it due to the ABS issue, and that price at that milage. Nothing wrong with over 100k on these cars, but given the problems it has combined with the milage I think he's asking too much. If you're comfortable with the issues and milage I'd say offer 7500. If he balks, there are plenty of lower milage c5s to be had for not much more. I got my 99 with 39k on it last year for $17,000. YMMV depending on location.

As for info on the C5, read the stickies mentioned above. They should help you a lot.

Not sure what your budget is, but for a few thousand more you should be able to find a car that does not have the issues and may in fact be newer and with less miles. If you decide to pursue the ‘99, just be sure you know what may be wrong, what it may cost to repair, and adjust your offer accordingly.

Thanks for all the info. I think I will pass on this car. I think it is more prudent to spend a few thousand more and find a C5 with less problems and mileage. In my area (Seattle) it looks like I am looking between $13 and $15K.
