Default Question on LS1-LS6 intakes

I read a few places that the 2001+ LS1 intake was the same as the LS6. Is that indeed a fact? I have a 2000 LS1 and looking to upgrade to the LS6. Is there a particular part number I should be looking for?

Cant tell you the part number but,,,,,,, YES,,, The C5 ZO6 and the 2001+ manifolds are the SAME flow wise and look identical.

The only real difference is the size of the PLENUM. The bottom of the ZO6 and 2001+ manifolds are lower (bigger) than the early (97-2000)

Its a worthwile upgrade if you can find a decent one at a good price. I just put one on my basically stock 99 and saw a small, but definitely noticeable, improvement. There is some finagling involved to install it. Namely, removing most of the ribs from the bottom for clearance over your coolant pipes in the valley. I also re routed a knock sensor wire under those coolant pipes rather than over so it didn't get pinched. Good luck!

I'm definitely going to do it. I'm in the middle of a header install at the moment, I may pick one up at Carlisle if I find a deal. Thanks all.

Going to the LS6 intake would be a good mod to do.

WELL,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, While you are modding the engine and purchasing parts, here are some things that will round out the improvements.

VARARAM Cold Intake
180 deg thermostat
PCM Tune

Once you have all the parts installed, get your PCM Tuned and you will most likely see around 390 RWHP

Bill do you feel the Vararam is a much better set up than something like the Honker? I've heard bad things about the fitment and quality of the Veraram.

LOL! The VARARAM on my 02 ZO6 fit fine. If you want to take your car to the show and show it off, leave it stock. Yes the honker looks nicer but both provide the engine with COOLER AIR that something that takes air from in front of the radiator.

I really didn't find the fit or look of the VARARAM to be bad. It works and works well. Its not like its tapped together with duct tape. The seal in the filter box needed improvement on mine (think that they resolved that by now). I upgraded to the Green filter and all is well

There are a few part numbers

#88894339, 12573572, 12561184, 88890524, 88890523. 88894339
This part number is for the LS6 manifold found on all LS1-powered ’01 and ’02 Camaros and Firebirds, ’01-’04 Corvettes and Z06s, ’04-’05 CTS-V, and the ’04 GTO.

NO!!! Use the same ones that you have now. EVERYTHING is the same except, that you need to deal with the steam crossover lines under the manifold. You can just push them down so that they are lower and do not contact the bottom of the new manifold.
