The rear emblem does not have the posts that go into the hatch - they are just flat with double sided tape. The hard part is getting it positioned in the right place.
I have not had any issues with the inserts coming loose but over time I can see where the adhesive that is used by the factory can come loose and the insert would fly off. Some good epoxy glue should keep them in place, or some very thin double sided tape.
Inserts on mine came off a couple years ago. Most of the black plastic surround remains.
Replacement is pricey, so I bought a waterfall emblem (significantly cheaper) to replace it, but life has a way of interfering with all sorts of grand plans, so haven’t gotten around to taking the old on off, much less installing the new one..
My rear deck emblem is removed. I much prefer the less cluttered look. There's enough going on back there with the HUGE "CORVETTE" lettering emblazoned onto the rear fascia. Depending on how much your car stays outside you may have some 'ghosting' of the paint since the top side is more susceptible to UV damage.
