so you're saying it's better to spend the same $ in parts + TechII programming cost to get rid of a system that has useful benefits (safety alert being one of them) rather than keeping the system working?
It depends how long you plan to have the car, and your view long term.
Just like the antiquated c4 wheel sensors, someday the c5 versions will be unavailable. Might as well turn it off now while the parts and expertise is more readily available (if you plan to keep the car forever).
I know that exact thing has been done. Swapped only to delete.
As with anything on the C5, if you choose to not fix something, eliminate something, or just plain do without it, there's going to be an idiot light on all the time to warn you of that particular outage. I do think keeping your TPMS system in working order is good advice though as it can warn you of a tire problem before it becomes a bigger problem...
Nothing but trouble with the ones on my ‘99. I bought new sensors for my track wheels. Had them working at one point, but the L front isn’t working correctly anymore. They just don’t seem to work for long, for me at least. I just hit reset every time. My originals worked when they felt like it, too.

Not the usual experience - except when they are old. My OEM's lasted from 1997 to 2012. They were still working when I replaced them when I got new wheels and tires. Only difference was that the new ones registered much quicker - a couple hundred yards, not 1/2 mile.
