How does this even happen?

If we're throwing out guesses as to how this happened, here's mine.
Perhaps someone short with a shoulder strap type purse walked by the car and dragged a buckle or brad along the side. Could explain it, but at this point it really doesn't matter. The damage is done, as they say. Good luck with the fix!

People that intentionally do damage to someone else's property just because they are jealous p*** me off more than just about anything else in this world, but it is unfortunately a fact of life these days. I am also very conscious of where I park my Vette( that is if I ever get out of it ) and am usually not gone from it too long, but that doesn't mean that it still can't happen.
Regardless of how it got there, I would take it to a very reputable body shop that has the knowledge and tools necessary to correct that damage. I would think that a 100 dollar bill would take care of it--at least make it barely noticeable. I had some scratches on my wife's Lexus RX350 that I thought was too deep to fix but a privately owned shop down the street made them nearly invisible for 75.00. Good luck...
