Let the fun begin
I am finally working on the new to me house I bought in July. My FRC has been there most of this time while I finished doing updates to the “old” house we are selling. I’m a little cramped for space compared to what I had.
A fairly normal two car garage with about a 6 foot offset to the right to accommodate a walk in door. Not sure I can anything but minimal storage but I’ll take suggestions to maximize the space from any of you that deal with a garage this size.
The real chore and where most of the work will be is in the basement garage. It is a single car garage about 15 feet wide but is the full depth of the house on that end. Enough to place two medium size cars end to end if needed.
I plan to take down a good bit of the partition between the garage and the rest of the basement and put up a new wall about 12 feet further over to the left side. I’m hoping this will give me ample storage space for my mower and atv along with some workbench space. This is the other side of the basement garage wall.
The wall I’m taking out is where you see the 6 panel door and the wall I’m putting back up will line up with the corner just pass the other exterior door with the glass insert, ladder in the way of course.
This will be where I do most of my maintenance and mods once everything is done and may become the primary parking for the Corvette. The plus side to the basement garage is it is heated and cooled and has a floor drain, on the negative side the ceiling is a little low in the center where some ductwork is hidden under the drywall ceiling. I just turned 66 this week so progress will be slow as there are many honey do projects to be completed in the short term.
Once again ill I’ll take all the suggestions you guys might have for a space like this.

that will be sweet! To maximize space is easy-camry is out in the driveway!!! thats what happened to us-my wife doesn't mind the trade because she likes driving the vette way more than the corolla

Well the deal is with this house the entire basement is mine. Upstairs is hers and I will have to make it suit her, new floors a kitchen update etc. We will share the entire place but I will have final say on the layout and finish of the basement. May have to draw straws for what sits outside, I also have a truck, an Impala SS and a 67 Chevelle. I had two trucks but sold one last month, something else may have to go too!

One of the koolist features of the house is that there is a room in the basement that is under the two car garage. The basement has 10” poured concrete walls and the original owner had steel I beams set and then used a metal pan to pour the garage floor over. So I have a 20+ foot by 20+ foot storm shelter. I think it will make a great media room that won’t disturb the upstairs at all.
i hope this doesn’t sound like I’m bragging, I’m just excited to be getting closer to being moved after having a 400 mile round trip commute every week for the last 3 years in order for my wife and I to provide child care for our twin grandsons who were born prematurely and needed more constant care than my son and daughter-in-law could provide.

I hate that are farther away now, but you're still reasonably close enough that we may bump into each other at some event.

John, when we next cross paths, consider the ride a done deal. 
As for the bumper, unfortunately I will not likely ever see it on my car.
The painter has had it since March and I begged and pleaded him to get it done before my foot surgery in April. It was July before I could walk and then I had to send it back to Vengeance for an engine warranty.
I got it back in October and got to take it to one car show. It was one of those first time shows in Gallatin and they weren't gonna do the trophies until 5pm. I left at 4pm because it was already about sunset and the deer were in full rut.
I was told later that I won best in show, but all winners had to be present. Big deal, my car is worth way more to me than any trophy.
After that show I had 5 1/2 weeks before I had total knee replacement surgery scheduled. Again I begged the painter to get it done so I could prep the car for winter storage, to no avail.
He doesn't know it yet, but he is fired and can put that bumper wherever he wishes. He will never, ever get possession of my car and have it to hold hostage.
I really wanted that bumper very badly.
If I ever see one on a nice car and find a shop I can trust and get a written contract, I might buy another one and start over from scratch.

Hate to hear about the bad experience with the bumper, I guess all those years of practicing self control as a State Trooper were put to good use. I’m assuming all your surgery’s have been successful, I’m sure it made for a trying 2018.

Foot surgery is really just now almost completely healed. No complications. My last doctor visit was in July and he said it would be 6 more months. He knew precisely what he was saying.
The knee has been a week now, and has been jacked since I woke up in recovery breaking the rails off the bed in pain.
I don't know what is going on, but they are having a hard time getting me on anything that works for more than 30 minutes to 1 hour in a 4 hour period.
I had a horrible day today, but am comfortable right now.
Going back again tomorrow for more tests.
No signs of infection though, thank God!

Wow, that's a hell of a space you have both upstairs and downstairs. Tons of room to work on projects and store tools, etc.
I have 2 pieces of advice:
1. Hop on the Garage Journal Forum, it is packed full of gearheads who enjoy working ON their garage as much as they do working IN them. Plenty of great ideas for use in a limited space.

2. You had mentioned you're 66 years old and still have so much to get done around the house...remember not to bite off too much on the project list, and to just enjoy it!

Thanks for the link, I will definitely check it out. I’m 66 but my mind is 35, my body can’t make that claim though. I’m not looking forward to all aspects of the work ahead of me but sometimes I think it will help my overall health both physically and mentally.
I’ll get a good test of my stamina this weekend. I have a tool rental set up and will be taking up 200 square feet of ceramic tile and cement board underlayment in the kitchen.
