About half of all vehicles on the road today have black wheels. They are so overdone. Chrome or polished wheels would be more unique and would make the car stand out more...

Manual or auto? If manual, a nice shifter upgrade and/or lower box rebuild will make every drive more enjoyable. Wheels are always a good visual upgrade. 18s/19s look great on a C5. I like a polished/machined finish but each to his own. I recently bought new daytime running lights with a LED strip along the bottom and no yellow lense to modernize. Lots of options for these cars. Do some searching for ideas. Post some pics along the way. Good luck!

I googled “new car pics” and counted the cars with black wheels......it wasn’t close to half
this was very accurate and scientific.........well compared to just saying it anyway

Most people actually believe what they come to believe, despite any reference to facts... I see it here often. it does make for many miles of smiles, and on a rare occasion I will laugh out loud at some of the comments made on this forum.. it also keeps those muscles in my eyes functional.. you know the ones that help me roll my eyes.

I guess you guys missed the word "about"...point is, black wheels are way too common these days. If you want to blend in with the others, go with black wheels. If you want to stand out and be noticed, go with chrome or polished...

I've been pondering black chrome wheels with a yellow outer band. But just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Told my wife another thread about black vs. chrome wheels. She laughed and said why not just do a side of each- then see which gets the most comments? I think a C5 looks great with either- and have a set of each. It really is a personable choice!

Wheel choices have been a common thread here for 20 years.. I expect there will be more of the same in the future.. todays wheels offer so many choices in style but more impressive are the finishes offered.. some wheel manufactures offer more than a dozen different finishes for every wheel style they offer. .
Personally Black wheels are a lost opportunity to add a subtle touch. Black wheels tend to get lost in the shadows of black tires and black wheel wells.
In 2018/ 2019 there are so many more choices than black, chrome or polished..

nope, I didn’t, it’s not close... I sat at Starbucks for about 45 min this am and saw exactly Zero, 0%, none, none, nada, not one. With black or dark wheels. I get it, you don’t like them, I’m not a huge fan on most cars, but on the right car they look good. If you want to be taken seriously at all base you comments on something..... even if it’s just your opinion, alternate facts don’t work for most people. Just say’n

And yet the OP said he likes black wheels. Not everyone needs to stand out.
Maybe when you own a Corvette show us a pic of yours with chrome...

I'm happy with all my purchases except the partition (waste of money).
GHL exhaust, drilled/slotted rotors, ace click wheels with 18/19 non runflats, Z06 screens up front, cags eliminator, clb, V1 with mirror mount, full interior insulation, ss letters in rear, halltech intake, love my heated seats, shifter boot/console cover.
Maybe seats next?
I'm sure I'm missing something.
Another strong opinion AGAINST black wheels here, but the only opinion that matters is YOURS!

I have a C6 wide-body that comes stock with additional fender flares inside the fenders for stone protection both front and rear. Looking back at my C5 ownership I would say that is the number one thing I would want and I have seen them somewhere for the C5. Just look at any C6 wide-body later model car and it will have those plastic mud flaps for lack of a better term. I would also say a clear bra. I see they have DIY kits available from Forum vendors. You can do the fenders behind the rear wheels and front wheels, the vents at the coves, the nose, pretty much anywhere that gets a scratch or a stone chip you can cover. I want to say the total spending would be maybe $350.

No , I quoted you exactly... I included the " about " as well which would not literally hold you to 1/2 of all cars out there... Mu question was and still is what is your source for saying that about half the cars on the road have black wheels... even if we took a conservative number like let's say 20 percent and not half.. ( that will be about ) where did you source that information.. ? or was it just your local observation since you also said "All cars".
I know my CCW 505A are very popular wheels here. Ive had two sets over 18 years and in all of my travels in those 18 years I have never come across a single car with a set of CCW 505's.
Your quote, " If you want to blend in with the others" go with black wheels, the better argument would be "if you want to blend in with your black tires and black wheel wells, go with black wheels.

This is just a civil discussion, not trying to put anyone in a box and was simply asking if your statement was just an opinion based on the few thousand cars you come across in your neighborhood, or you actually had some facts based on a source.
No sinister motive..
I just bought my wife a New car 2019, 300 new cars on the dealership lot and 100 in their indoor underground show room and not one with black wheels.

I don't know where you are, but everywhere I go I see black wheels...maybe it's because I despise them so much that I notice them more...not quite sure where the alternate facts comment came from, but to deny the black wheels trend is just sticking your head in the sand...
