And yet the OP said he likes black wheels. Not everyone needs to stand out.
Maybe when you own a Corvette show us a pic of yours with chrome...
Not sure why my not owning a C5 has anything to do with the subject (like that has any bearing on my opinion about wheels), but I'm sure I'll be posting plenty of pics when I get one...

Oh and.. my c5 always looked a little off to me, and it absolutely has to do with the fact the rear has never been lowered. Should I have it lowered a few inches? I see a lot of them on the road and they just look more aggressive/sports-like when they are lowered..
I would do long tube headers with a high-flow catted cross pipe but stick with the stock Cat-Back and mufflers.
I'm not a big fan of messing with the ride height but if you are dead set on it just remember that a little is a lot.

If you said about half the new Camaros I see have black wheels I would get it but “cars” I don’t think so. I’m in central Florida in a fast growing large population area and I see plenty of black/dark wheels some look good some look lost. The alternate facts comment was obviously a joke that you didn’t get referencing a certain statement about some fabricated/made up stats
ftr, I like light colored wheels on most C5’s, polished CCW Sp500 are my absolute favorite.

I see black wheels on all vehicles today...sedans, SUVs, cross-overs, pickups, jeeps, and even motorcycles...it's an epidemic!
I think the definition of " Tasteful " has been elusive to many members.. Or the word Tasteful, means different things to different people.
Just an opinion.

B.....or in other words, some people’s taste is all in there mouth.
About half of all vehicles on the road today have black wheels. They are so overdone. Chrome or polished wheels would be more unique and would make the car stand out more...
Yesterday I counted cars/trucks/SUVs/etc. just to see the percentage of cars with black rims. NO WHERE NEAR HALF. I counted 50 cars on the way to destination and 50 cars on the way back. Of those 100 vehicles, 3 had black rims. Yeah,3% is a far cry from 50%
I think getting the stance right and the best wheels will make best visual difference on the car. Just don't go too low as getting out of the driveway will be a pain. Black wheels look great up close but from a distance loose all definition. Darker wheels are cool but need some contrast to stand out.

You guys are still bickering over my "half" comment? Some of you need to get a life...point is, there are way too many vehicles these days with black wheels. Why put them on your vehicle? So you can blend in and not be noticed? Why doesn't everyone just paint everything on their C5s flat black and be done with it? Maybe they won't be seen at all...

Because some people, including the OP who just stated he was mounting black wheels (not asking for opinions) like them. I like the way black looks. Its not about standing out, or not standing out. Flat black; also a cool look, yep.
If you need to stand out, go for it.

The OP was asking for opinions or I wouldn't have said anything. I don't get when people give their opinions when they are asked, why others bitch about those opinions. If people like the all blacked out look, hey it's their car, do what you want...I was just giving my opinion...

Rereading it does look like he maybe asked for opinions about wheel color. I read it initially as "I'm getting black wheels, opinions on details" Could be either.
Come out from (y)our corners and shake hands...

black wheels? Not sure if you have base or Z06, I opted to powder coat my Z06 wheels gloss black since it didn't cost much out of pocket ($75/wheel) & they are known to be high quality light weight wheels, its a cheap way to get the look w/o buying all new wheels....on the other hand if you do get aftermarket wheels you could increase 1" and/or get 18"s all around both of which would open up your tire choices significantly.
vettes need tinted wheels, the darker the better IMO
If you don't have Z06 then an axleback is a good mod for better exhaust note, but I'm a "performance first" kinda guy so if I was starting from scratch again on a stock C5 I wouldn't touch the exhaust until I got LT headers first, and then I'd also suggest looking into cutouts vs. getting a axleback since a) axlebacks for vettes are expensive, b) they don't increase power, c) some brands tend to drone @ certain RPMs + if you add headers/cam etc. sound can get obnoxious - E-cutouts allow you to change tone on the fly & shut off when you're tired of sounding like a nascar.
CAI - honker or vararam - something that is truly getting more/colder air into the engine not a cone style
Replace head unit w/ aftermarket stereo that has bluetooth, really helps modernize the car
LED/HID headlights - couple options out there, "Radioflyer" Is a popular vendor I have their pop-up style HID's & LED tails as well, not cheap but significantly increase the enjoyment factor (went from basically not being able to drive @ night to being able to lol)
Good tires
I wouldn't lower the car much if you plan on driving regularly on the street, I lowered mine about 3/4" & while I don't mind it I know the ride wouldn't be for everyone & you need to be even more cognizant of potholes/speed bumps etc.
Stiffer sway bars esp. if its a base car will help handling - hotchkiss/steinjager/C6 Z51 or Z06 or Zr1/C5 Z06/Pfadt/etc. + metal endlinks either moog or consider 3 piece heim style adjustable end links

Yep, because what you said is BS and you refuse to retract it.
So, to give you the matter of doubt, I counted 50 cars to and from my destination again today. I counted 4 of a hundred. While that is an increase of my other fact finding of 3%, 4% is still a far cry from your 50% claim. My household has 7 vehicles, none with black rims. In all the cars I've every owned, about 16, only 1 had black rims. Even that at a HIGH 6%, is still a long ways away from your 50%. I will give you this, black wheels are more popular on sport cars than other types of vehicles in my observation. Still, I'd give it a max of 10% on sport cars.
If you like black wheels do it! I put black C7 z06 wheels on my FRC and I love it. I didn’t do it for the turned heads, but it gets a lot more of that sort of reaction now, than it did with the c5 z06 wheels I had before.
