So i just bought my first corvette yesterday burgundy c5 with 130k miles on it for only $4000!! It has a rebuilt title but its in some great shape! Super hyped to be a part of the community and learn from you guys.. did i get a good deal? What preventative maintenance should i do? Anything i should look out for? 👀
This site/community is loaded with data and experience. Search the archives and read up on the FAQs section at the top of the C5 forum. The C5, as great of a car that it is, has quirks like any other performance car. If you do your own wrenching, the C5 is tolerable to maintain for your wallet (along with being great therapy).
At 130K, I'd definitely take a hard look at the harmonic balancer first! Hopefully it had a tune-up (plugs/wires) back around 100K,
What do you know of the history as to why it is a "rebuilt"?
I only have 32,000 or so on my 03 vert. I am the second owner and the car was kept in perfect condition by the previous owner.
I changed all the fluids, hoses and belts for peace of mind.
I started reading this forum and decided to have the harmonic balancer, tensioners and idlers changed. Once again for peace of mind.
My wife and I love the car. The C5 is a beautiful vehicle.
Congrats on your purchase and welcome!

Complete fluid change, front-to-back, Chevron Techron fuel system treatment the tank, make sure in front of the condenser/radiator area is clean, plugs and wires, belts and hoses, and drive.
Don't listen to the careful Christians above, just get out & ride the hell out of it, take it through puddles, & maybe even on a gravel road just because you can!
Most of all, don't get stuck in the "let's worry about everything they tell me on the forum" syndrome & enjoy your new toy!!
Can't go wrong at that price. Congrats! Check the safety issues, brakes, old tires, etc. first. Check all your fluids/maintenance items. And enjoy. How 'bout some pics!?!

I kind of agree with PureJoy Don't start replacing parts just because somebody on here did..Fix things when they are broken or need replaced. Shoot, you only spent 4k on the car, so don't let it become a money pit.
