I was in the center of that polar vortex, in Anamosa Iowa. Was actually 33 degrees below zero Wednesday with wind chills of 60 below zero. Frickin' cold it was! I only went out with the dog and when she went out, she did her business, and she came RIGHT back in the house. Thursday morning I had to go to work and it was an actual 24 degrees below zero and my Ford Expedition was not happy. I had to jump it to get her going. Then she died (I think I have a hole in one of the vacuum lines and it rears it's ugly head when it gets below 10 degrees) at every stoplight on the way to work. Hell, it was so cold my CD player would not play, it just said "Error 80" which in laymen's terms means "screw you, it's too cold"
The two C5's are in my detached garage which is kept at 50 degrees by two big propane heaters. No way would I take them out in that severe cold. I would guess the fiberglass would become very brittle in those temps, maybe more prone to cracking?
I really miss winters back home in upper MI with 200" of lake effect snow a year. More snow, more better. Cold for no reason is retarded, there's nothing to look forward to. Mine is sleeping in the attached garage, doesn't really get below 50 in there.
I moved from Pa and back south where I belong...while the polar vortex was hitting at -30F in Pa, I was driving my Z06 with the windows down. 14yrs in Pa was enough to last a lifetime of clouds and rain and snow and frigid temps.
