IF you had it with you and the lock malfunctioned, Richard, if available could talk you thru the entire process but it would not be as simple as the install before anything fails. It’s easy, cheap peace of mind. Richard provides probably the best product support I’ve ever experienced. Since I’m in my second c5, and as the installer of the LMC5 in both, I can attest to the quality of the product.
Only place my car would be at midnight is in the parking lot where I work.
So imagine yourself at midnight at your workplace parking lot, and it is raining or snowing or sleeting. When this happens to you (not if, but when), I want you to think about my unfortunate experience with my unexpectedly locked column. My 1998 Corvette had the GM recall done by the previous owner. My car didn't have any column lock problem until one dark night when the column locked up when the car was in a parking lot at a semi-rural hotel. I waited for 6 hours until a tow truck arrived the car. The towing bill was $600 (my towing insurance covered only a small portion, and I was stuck with the remainder). Ultimately, a bypass was installed and the locking pin was removed. my advice to you is to learn from my mistake. Be smarter than I was, and save yourself some serious aggravation.

The recall was never done to my car a 2003 built Nov 2002 & still functions as it should, a lot of issues have to do with battery voltage. No offense to any one here but I have no intentions of installing any bypass on mine.

I've gone 50 whole years without being struck by lightning. But I still take all the available precautions of not being struck when the possibility is there.
