Might offer an Alternative Suggestion to Daily Driving a C5...
Don't get me wrong, the C5 is blast to drive, is an American Icon, and is an Eye Catcher,.... but....
How about the Japanese version of the C5 as a Daily Driver ?
The reality is the Nissan 350 Z works as a DD so much better
2 less cylinders and 'bout 50 less base HP, but of plenty of torque and get up and go to get you through the traffic
No front scraping on bumps and uneven road surfaces
Shorter and all around easier to maneuver in daily situations
Incredibly durable
Just as exhilarating to wheel
No obsolete electronic control modules that go bad and can't be replaced
Easier on the kidneys on rough roads
Less of a magnet for trouble and weird stuff
Far more modern interior
Greater visibility
Every bit as well balanced and equal road hugging ability
Cheaper on the used market than a C5, produced '03 to '08 and plenty of garage queens still out there at around $10,000 vs. $20,000 for later year C5
If your going to put a bunch of miles on a Daily Driver and you want a fun 2 seater, the 350 Z is really a superior alternative for the task at hand
Based on a 35 mile 1 way commute and years of experience with both... Can't speak highly enough about the advantages the Z has
this is so wrong. I’m a huge z-car fan, but aside from initial purchase cost, there is NOTHING that would make me choose a z33 over a c5. The c5 is more spacious, more comfortable, as good on gas, cheaper to maintain for the most part, has more power, and is cheaper for many to insure.
Depending on the year, a vq35 is much more likely to drink oil than a c5, the transmission will break if you don’t get the cd009, the interior will peel and rattle, and the handling is absolute garbage compared to any modern corvette.
Again, I love the z33, but the c5 is just way better. I like to tell myself that I’ll buy another z33 or z34 one day, but the truth of the matter is that the c5z does literally everything the Nissan can do, only much better.

Scotty Kilmer says Nissan Infinity are pieces of $hit, but he also says Ford trucks are good and the new ones are pieces of dog poo....
I guess I'm old cause I see the Vette as more of a toy than anything else. For me I have to have comfort in a dd, yet still have power when I want it. I opted to go CTS-V.
I DD drive my vert 8 or 9 months a year. I've put 60k miles on it in 5 years. Very reliable.
That's pretty much us- I put over 10,000 miles last year on our convertible. When traveling, be it short or long trips (we are "empty nesters") the C5 is our "go to." My wife actually prefers the Corvette over her 2011 Highlander. The trunk has ample room for our needs and the car is very comfortable (and ours has the stiffer Z51 suspension). And as you note, the car has proven to be very reliable. I find the car very enjoyable to drive (it is a manual). Life is too short to drive a boring car!
My C5 is the best car I have ever owned. I've also had a 911 and a Lamborghini Espada. Never has any other car made me want to drive it almost every day and take it on long trips. I use it for work too. It now has 167,000 miles on it and runs great. I don't hesitate to drive it anywhere.

you don’t have to be old to appreciate the CTS-V. That’s one bad *** ride.
The C5 can be built for different duty (daily driver, drag racer, road coarse, show car etc...). There is plenty of aftermarket support.
The fuel economy is good.
With it the cargo space, it makes a good grocery getter.

I don’t know who Scotty Kilmer is, but they’re definitely not pieces of ****. The problem is that they just don’t do anything as good as the C5 does, so unless initial purchase price is a huge concern, there’s no reason not to choose the C5.

I am surprised you don't know who he is, he claims Renault bought into Nissan and the quality on the new ones is not good at all, I had a friend who bought a Titan left over 17 and it has had all kinds of problems for a new truck and the materials it's made out of are suspect....
I looked at a Z350 in a parking lot today and yes it is a nice car but I like the Vette C5 a good bit better...
Speak of the devil, Scotty just realeased 2 videos, one was on Chevrolet pulling out of America and 5 pickups that won't go 100,000 miles. The Titan was on this list as well as a Chevy...

Scotty Kilmer is a boomer hack, he's stuck in 1975. His spike in popularity literally comes down to click-bait titles and thumbnails. Anything that isn't his Toyota Celica is a piece of **** to him.
C5's are fine as DD's, they have a bunch of quirks and day to day things that can add up though, driving a "normal" car is much more mundane, but more livable.
I drive my C5 on average 4 times a week to work, if the weather is nice.
Bought my 2004 on sept 1st with 52,000 miles on it. I am at 63500 now. I have been daily driving the **** out of it for a little more than half a year now. I have put a little time and money into it and I still have some things left to fix, but I still love the car. A lot of basic maintenance, fluid changes, plugs and wires. I did have to replace the belts/pulleys and radiator/expansion tank/hoses/clamps at what I would consider an early mileage. I fixed the horn (the air bladder switch). I tried to fix the airbag (clock spring). I need to try to fix the windshield fluid sprayer. I have had to keep an eye on nuts/bolts/screws and tighten a few up. I am getting a catalytic conveter CEL, a periodic ABS/Traction/stability CEL, my clutch pedal is sinking at high RPMs, my HVAC display is very dim and my turn signal housings keep melting. I may have to replace the weather stripping and window regulator/track/motors soon too.

He thinks GM aluminum engines are terrible. Ahem. The LS series are probably the best engines ever made.
