License Plates

The reason my plate on the Corvette has the number 2, is because back when my father and I wanted to get the personalized plates, it was treated as a "spiff" in NY, only for drivers who had a clean license, for the 3 previous years. Both my father's and my initials were the same, so we requested the plates with the numbers 1 and 2. 1 was already assigned to someone, while 2 wasn't, so DMV gave me 2, and told my father that the next plate in sequence, that was available, was 4. He thought that was OK with him, so he took it and had it a year or two, at which point he died.
I took over 4, on my at-the-time DD, and kept it until a couple of years ago, when I sold the car the plate was on. By that time, I already had gotten my Jeep, and I didn't want to go through the hassle with DMV, again, to keep the number 4 plate, so sadly, I just let it go...
