Can I remove the gauge cluster without removing the whole dash cover. My HUD is not displaying anything and would like to check if the ribbon cable is still plugged in. Thanks

You don't have to remove the dash pad at all. Its kind of a tight fit finally getting it out and unplugging the ribbon cable, but take your time and be gentle. No big deal really.

Yep, don't have to remove dash. I've done it twice.

You will have to remove the dash pad in order for the HUD to be removed and repaired. It is not very likely that the ribbon cable became unplugged

There's no way the cable would become unplugged. It's hard enough to get it apart when you have it in your hand.
Have you checked to see if the HUD dimmer switch is turned way down? That there is any illumination inside the HUD (need to look from the side through the windshield in a darkened area), if the mirror is moving when you work the control to raise or lower the display? There are many reasons the HUD display is not visible and an unplugged cable is not one of them.
