And that was quick, adjusted my passenger side hood latch shimmed the fender at the top two torx screws and got the wiper to clear. Will post a video soon on what adjustments I made.
Any chance the mcm banter can go to another thread would like to stay on topic.
Update, With regard to acp hood I have discovered my passenger windshield wiper contacts the cowl. The cowl has been ground down but still there is contact made. I tried to shim the wiper down with one washer but still makes contact. Will see what else I can do, it's not a huge concern for ME because I never drive the car in the elements given I have drag radials on. However I will have to play with the wiper arm some more and see if I can reconcile this issue.
The jack stands span two ribs on the cross member in the jack stand locations I used. The ribs are a 1/4" thick. If you set the car down on a 2x4 spanning the cradle there is no lip to prevent the car from sliding off the top of the wood should you be torqueing on it hard. However this got me to revisit jacking the car up and putting it on jack stands and found this thread showing a comparable suggestion to you sited by gm recommending not to place jack stands directly on the sub frame. Never too old to teach an old dog new tricks.
That thread gave me a headache lol. I've become less patient in sifting through lots of bickering to find info as I've become older (ironic for the MCM bologna going on here...lol), but I think I see where you're talking about haha. I came across the cradle length 2x6 method (sorry I realize I said 2x4 earlier) about a year ago when doing a ton of research, so I cut an appropriate length section for each cradle and have used them since. Makes it easy and quick to get the car up with the weight evenly distributed. The cradle ribs "dig" into the wood slightly so I've never worried about it falling/sliding off. The wood is nearly perfect for length and width of the cradle without hitting leaf. I used to be able to slide the 2x6 on the jack under the rear cradle without doing anything else, but after just lowering it some more, looks like I'll need to bring all 4 tires on top of some 2x4 pads first haha.
Honestly, I'm sure people lift their car all kinds of different ways without any issues, despite the fears and recommendations of others and/or GM. As long as it feels solid once it's on stands, you should be good, it's just getting it there safely that can be tricky. I would have a hard time trusting myself to line up both lips of the cradle perfectly into the jack stand and trusting that all the weight wouldn't put too much stress on the cast aluminum ribs haha.
Tough to find the time around christmas with two kids to wash the car or take a proper photoshoot. Couldn't really do either but took some pics of the hood on my lunch today. Probably will be a month or two till I wash the car and take some proper pics. Till then...
