The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The 350Z is a decent looking car, and is fairly affordable for a sports car. But its really a poser's car, where its got the look, but not much performance to back it up. What they should have done is offer that motor with a twin turbo package, or put in the Q45's V-8. THEN they would have been on to something.
The Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe upon which its based, is a much better package for that platform, and makes for a nice luxury sport coupe. The 350Z tries to be a full out sports car, but fails in the performance. Not even in the same league as the Corvette, IMO.

MRR :smash: [/QUOTE]
I had a nice looking blue 350z try the same to me...He didn't even look at me at the next light I blew him off so bad. :smash: Don't these guys read test reports in the mags?
Now that's just too funny!!

And let me just say, some of you have some very nice cars.
You are ( hopefully correct)..........
The death of the Z was IMHO, brought on by.
1...Excessive selling price, for WHAT you recieved.
2...Poor performance for the bucks.......
2...Trying to make what WAS a decent sports car, into a Luxury Touring Boat...( i.e.) too many gizmo's / gadgets..........
Let's hope they AMERICANIZE.....the car, instead of trying to make US like it their way............if they do....then it will be a failure once more.

BTW, anyone on here have any old datsuns with vette motors in em. Haven't done any searches but sometime in the future I plan on doing some sort of swap into a 240Z.
My engine choices are:
A. Chevy 350; everyone does that
B. Custom twin turbo or supercharged vette
C. Single Turbo Supra Engine
D. Open to suggestion
to do a convertible first or the TT. The decision hasn't been made yet.
Convertible means sales and mass appeal. TT is for the performance
crowd. We'll see
I just drove one of the cars, and it far exceeded my worst fears.
I cannot believe the abomination released by Nissan; this car will either be completely redesigned or extinct like all the other *** pretenders within 3 years.
The ultimate myth is the reliability of the *** sports car.
The only half decent *** sportscar made in the last 20 years was the Supra, and it was a lagging, ugly overweight monster. The TTRX7 was a great looking and handling car, underpowered, and pure nightmare reliability status. None of the others was anything but pure garbage, as is the new lumbering, overweight, one-tire spinning- viscous -LS havin- underpowered - v6- sporting -underbuilt hoopty- POS called the 350Z. By the way, they plow like a pig, too, and have no adjustability in the front suspension.
Frankly, I keep TRYING to give the *** crap a chance, I WANTED an RX7. I WANTED a SUPRA, I was EXCITED about the 350Z coming out. But, frankly, the japanese are purely and simply philosophically incapable of building a sound sports car grounded in common sense and consistently capable engineering.
Our Z06's will be around long after all the *** crap is nothing more than pick-a-part fodder, because they are DESIGNED by people with some sense and not by some gimmick driven, effort to prove a theoretical point.
No japanese transmission is near the equal of the T56. No powerplant ever put in a production vehicle is the equal of the LS6. The suspension works and is relatively heavy duty. The brakes are decent quality. The body is relatively stiff and durable, and what do you know? You can actually count on the car lasting fairly well for you.
All that with the Z06, and a car a LOT bigger than the 350Z, and yet it weighs a really BIG fat boy LESS than the crappy v6 Z with a wimpy trans, underbuilt rear end, and a LOT less appeal.
If you want my REAL opinion, no sugar coating, let me know....
