I was inspired to ask this by a similar thread in the C7 section. I've had my C5 (my first Corvette) since late August and since I drive it only occasionally I haven't had an opportunity to hit more than 90mph briefly. Before the C5, I had a 2000 Ferrari F360 and it was extremely stable at 120mph. I'm eager to see how the Vette compares this weekend on my way to the local Cars and Coffee. Of course, traffic will dictate how fast I can go, but hopefully the interstate will be light for my attempt.
The C5 is a very old platform, and the top speed of each model has been tested many times over the years by many different sources. If you are curious, why not just Google your car's top speed instead of repeating what others have already done, and doing it on a public highway?
Call me a complete old smartass - but it's kind of like sex. I'd rather do it, than Google it.

Why not go down to the drag strip
and see how fast you can go?
C5 is stable up to 170 or so. After that the back end lifted. Nothing that a gurney flap can't fix. I am not stock but I got over 200 playing in Bonniville. Took a couple miles to get there.

I don't plan on going that fast. Would like to briefly hit 120 or 140 just to gauge how the vehicle is behaving. Maybe 160 if everything feels stable and traffic is nonexistent.

170+ mph on I-40 to Laughlin and still had more to go. That was some years ago, would not do it again, older and wiser.
At the Mojave Mile event, I went 165.2 and she was very stable.
At Autoclub speedway on the banked oval section (of the Roval road course set-up), I was consistently hitting high 140's with no issues.

120-140 and even 160 should be perfectly stable assuming everything is working as designed
I have to wonder when I see posts like this one, did you really think this through?
There are lawyers salivating on television on damn near every commercial break that would love to put your post up on a screen in a courtroom when suing you for everything you’ve got, if anything goes wrong.
Find a controlled environment to get the answer to your curiosity.
Ive squeezed 260 km/hr out of mine. it did feel like it was still pulling but the next sweeping curve was approaching.
Theres a spot about an hour away where people take their cars and bikes to see how quick they go, super long straight, nothing around for miles, flat and secluded. Ive had My bike (R1) to the end of the speedo there they stop reading at 299)
I did find it odd that in my car (reads in KM/HR) the heads up display stops when you get to 200km/hr, then starts from 0 and keeps going again - e.g. at 250km/hr, heads up just reads as '50' not 250
