I hope some other folks jump in on this thread... It's sounding like this stuff is tough and can't chip. Though I've never coated rims myself, I see several examples of rims that folks have tried to turn black, and they look like crap. I suspect this has a lot to do with how and where you drive your car. None of the coatings take road rash - and once the surface is chipped, the rim becomes rough. Upside is you can always remove the coating and start over.
It flat out works. Just be patient when applying. Layer by layer.
my silverado workhorse has dipped wheels chrome bumpers and bed lined lower panels + the hood center is dipped.

I assume that when the tires are replaced or rebalanced that you need to start over because of the weight removal?
It depends on the finish and colors. Single-stage colors, like black, were around $350/set. Mine were brushed, then powdercoated in Dark Smoke clear. Cost was around $850 for my CCW's.
I just finished watching the HyperDip video on Youtube. So glad I stumbled onto that. I've got the satin black wheels with the red stripe on my Z06 and have picked up a couple tiny chips. Looks like I have a solution for filling those, or completely coating the wheels.
Here are some jobs I did in matte black from the cans!
What I used after they dried was either Dipcoat, or simple quick detail spray. Makes dirt and brake dust almost slide right off if maintained! And adds a nice sheen!
hey! Those wheels look great! Can you share the exact kind of quick detailer you use? Thank you!
