Factory was AGM 2002 and later.
‘Why did they change? Well the acid batteries leak acid and it drips down on the frame, computer harness and the computer.
this would lead yo frame rust and computer or wire failures.
Does it happen yes as we just replaced a friends computer not long ago..
You can run as you like but beware GM learned a bit on the way and we can learn from it to.

Yes, if you let an AGM battery sit in a C5 for say 2-3 weeks or longer, without the proper tender/charger then you may have an issue.
