the better move is to wait for a slightly used c8.

Next build for me will like be a C7 GS with some aero and naturally aspirated build up. Can't blame anyone for goin C7...it's the final of the Dave Hill architecture based cars...as good as it gets chassis wise.
This is what I was thinking too. I actually preferred the C5 exterior but the C7 has grown on me. I think the twisties is where it will shine the most. The car is very tight and has a smaller wheel base. It's a good starting point for power and I was thinking just some simple bolt ons should be fine. Many of these running mid 11's at around 120 stock and it shouldn't take too much to get into the 10's. Plus it will hook up much better than my C5. There are several supercharger packages ranging up to 850 hp. So if I decide I want more power there are many options.

Enjoy it! I own a C7 Z51 and haven't been impressed, I'd rather drive my C5Z.

Just driving it home felt great. Nice tight handling. The aesthetics of the car are amazing. Lòts of cool thjngs going on. Power is sufficient. Interior is beautiful. What's not to like ?

C7 is very techie and just too much for my taste. Fire it up, take a look at the dash cluster, and its like a geeky computer ready to arm itself in some type of video game. The best way to put it.. technology overload. The passenger compartment is tight, small, and claustrophobic. Five minutes of driving and I find myself asking where is the power, it feels tame and refined, like an old man's cadilliac. The cornering and handling on backroads feels somewhat like a sedan. Feels very similar to my CTS-V and the C7 seems to be missing the wow factor in stock form. It is missing that raw in your face simplicity that the C5Z has... in stock or modified form. Now that's not to say the C7 is a terrible car, it definelty has its place and a cartoon appeal that people just love, my wife being one of them.

You need to find someone in Vegas with a Z51 and do a comparison video with your C5z for your youtube channel. It would make for some good content.

Enjoy your C7 - it is a great car that has plenty of tech and performance wrapped into a well integrated package.

I really liked the C5s I had but I have no regrets on making the switch to the newer car. If I could have kept both, I would have, but that wasn’t in the cards.

I agree 100% with Jack. I traded my '03 in yesterday for a '14 Z51 Premier Edition M8. I LOVED my C5. Owned it for 8 years. Now a caveat: I don't race. I also don't care if something passes me on the highway. I drive 'em 'cause I like to drive them for ME. My C5 had more than enough power for me but the C7 pales it. The tech jump is awesome. So far - very impressed.

Again, I don't trace/race. If you do you may want to mod things but for road use it has PLENTY of umph. Whatever you do, do it to impress YOU, no one else. No matter what "you" do, there will be people who think your crazy, think it's "stupid", etc. In the end YOU'RE the only one who has to live with your decisions.

My C5 was a coupe not a Z06. What would a video prove ? Someone is faster than someone else? Big deal. My car was capable of high 10's consistently. There is always someone faster.

I can use one word to describe the C7 and that's: Refined. I like a car that's tight and smaller. It's like being in a cockpit of a jet fighter. I feel more connected with the car. I felt the C5 was a bit too large and long for my liking . As for looks, I described it yesterday to several people as looking like a "Spaceship" . The beautiful angles of the C7 are like no other. It is very modern and clean looking. Up close you see all of the beautiful details of the venting and panel lines. It's really cool. Sorry to say the C5 is now getting dated and losing value fast. The build quality and advancement is evident between both cars. It made no sense to continue to pour money into a 16 year old car no matter how much I loved it. And besides the fact that the C7 has everything I ever spent my money on already in the car : Brembos/drilled rotors, 19's/20's, Exhaust settings, suspension/magenetic ride, Custom interior, custom lighting, an awesome steering wheel, door sill plates, a welcome display that is incredibly beautiful and I could go on and on. The day I looked at it I thought "here I am spending all of this money on aftermarket parts for what..? This car already has everything stock". I have spent incredible amounts of money modifying cars. This car has everything plus a warranty. As for adding more power, right now it is plenty sufficient. I use to drag race pretty regularly so I have a good feel for cars. Eventually I can make this car much faster than the C5 was and it will put the power to the ground in a more controlled manner. 650-750 to the wheels is easilty obtainable. I inquired yesterday before I bought the car. Thanks for the comments everyone. Have fun no matter what you drive.

First part of your statement definitely makes sense. I have been in the cars, and the cramped feeling was immediate over our C6. Tadge moved the engine back 4" or so, they worked with aero properties, etc...so, I just think the cabin is the part that had to compromise. Clearly though, as market demand and media just murdered the Corvette over its simple/cheap/light interior, C7's began the real push (utilizing the Cadillac team) and yeah...it doesn't surprise me the car in a way has become numb in a way. Porsche finds a way to do refined, but also engaging and still feel connected, but media nutswings Porsche also...in reality, a 993 and a 991 are going to be two different worlds as well.

On your second part...you read my mind. I have a BUNCH of videos coming...I've been on pause because I actually got mega sick at CES2020 (150k chinese come here) and was down for a month. Making matters worse, my Z06 broke BIG TIME in December, which led to me working with a sponsor to install a particular setup on my C5Z that all C5/6 guys could use, but it's had some hangups and we are working through them...so I can't release the vid yet. Here we are in May, and I just fixed the car, feel better, and the governor finally started releasing these insane rules he imposed on Vegas. SO....I finally hope I can get back to making vids. I had a lot of growth in just 4 months and was rumbling good, but got messed up here. Just passed 650k views though...hell of a lot of work...but...I enjoy it.

Going to do some real in depth C5/6 content and yeah, like you were sayin...think it's time to really do a C7 deal as well...find someone willing to let me play with their machine. I've been considering some partnerships with local consignment and car dealers because they aren't so tight fisted with cars and it's marketing for them. We'll see.

So .... Here a CRAZY TWIST to this whole C7 purchase. After listening to everyone's opionions on here and actually feeling ill for 2 days over letting my supercharged C5 go, many things went through my head like all of the good times that were spent building this car and racing everything under the sun along with the overall love for the sound and performance of this car. I have literally been sick to my stomach for 3 days about letting the car go. I have never felt this way about another vehicle in my life. Not even a Camaro I owned for 20 years that was highly modified. Either way, I do not want to tamper with a brand new car afterall and void any of the warranty. And I really don't feel like trying to explore new power combinations for the C7 at this point. And yes, it is refined, like a Cadillac. I do agree on that part to a degree. However, It is fine the way it is and is certainly better than the 2 Mitsu Eclipses that I traded. So this morning with my stomach tied in knots, I wrote a note to myself : "Get YOUR F*CKN CAR BACK".
I then called the dealer and told him I'd like it back and why. (This is the 3rd and final day I have to decide whether to keep the C7, btw.) The dealer was actually happy to do so being that he knows nothing about the car. So I jumped in my suv and ran down there. I got beat for some tax but who the hell cares. I HAVE MY BABY BACK. AND NOW I CAN BE AT PEACE. No one is getting my race car. I now own a C5 and a C7. God Bless

Good for you. If something bothers me like your experience that is a clear indicator to do just what you did, that is your conscious, always listen to it. I went from C5 to two C7's and just bought a C5 z06. More gun than my C7 GS. Enjoy both as I do.

Thank you Calvin, I thought I didn't either. But I'll make it work. I just can't describe the ill depression that came over me for 3 days and believe me money doesn't mean sh*t if your sick. It was something I can't describe and I am a healthy, well-balanced person. I never get this way over anything. I honestly have to say I am feeling MUCH better now. Grundy put it back on the same policy for $380 a year. too.
