Well, it *might* be goodbye since I won't keep both cars. I'm trying to downsize my collection and may trade 3 of my cars including the 2004 C5 for a 2019 C7. I hope I will be making the right decision as this appears to be the perfect opportunity to make a move. My only worry is that the C7 (Z51) will not be as fast as my supercharged C5. But I am sure I can work on that later, if need be. Regardless, if I do move on, I will miss this section of the forum as my first words tonight. were ... "oh no, I won't be a part of the C5 forum anymore". So I will see what happens tomorrow when I go for a test drive.

So .... Here a CRAZY TWIST to this whole C7 purchase. After listening to everyone's opionions on here and actually feeling ill for 2 days over letting my supercharged C5 go, many things went through my head like all of the good times that were spent building this car and racing everything under the sun along with the overall love for the sound and performance of this car. I have literally been sick to my stomach for 3 days about letting the car go. I have never felt this way about another vehicle in my life. Not even a Camaro I owned for 20 years that was highly modified. Either way, I do not want to tamper with a brand new car afterall and void any of the warranty. And I really don't feel like trying to explore new power combinations for the C7 at this point. And yes, it is refined, like a Cadillac. I do agree on that part to a degree. However, It is fine the way it is and is certainly better than the 2 Mitsu Eclipses that I traded. So this morning with my stomach tied in knots, I wrote a note to myself : "Get YOUR F*CKN CAR BACK".
I then called the dealer and told him I'd like it back and why. (This is the 3rd and final day I have to decide whether to keep the C7, btw.) The dealer was actually happy to do so being that he knows nothing about the car. So I jumped in my suv and ran down there. I got beat for some tax but who the hell cares. I HAVE MY BABY BACK. AND NOW I CAN BE AT PEACE. No one is getting my race car. I now own a C5 and a C7. God Bless

Always sad to see long time C5 members move on, but I guess it’s just human nature to want newer toys.
I’m pretty sure the C7 won’t be as fast as your supercharged C5, but you can always make it as fast as you can afford.
Best wishes to you, and like my Momma always says, don’t forget where you came from.

I'm getting trade in value which sucks. Only $14,000. My 2 2011 Eclipses are absolutley beautfiul but not worth a damn. TheI C5 has about 34,000 miles. But the C5 will need new brakes and tires, a head unit rebuild and probably a trans rebuild soon enough. You can't modify to this degree without creating other issues. My center consold leds went a while bIack so that's another headache and I am starting to notice some coolant on the ground. Besides the fact that I'm getting older and it's a miracle I haven't lost my license. I think now would be a good time to move on. The C7 has the bigger Brembo brakes, the custom interior, the handling and suspension and the overall technology with cameras, adjustable exhaust, and the ability to record all of your driving information, etc It's a Z51 so it has the adjustable suspension and everything with the 3LT package. It doesn't need anything. This is pretty much a no-brainer to me Believe me, I thought long and hard all day and night for 3 days now .I either dump a lot more money into the C5 or start fresh again. I always liked the C5 looks better but hanging around the C7 yesterday for a couple hours made it grow on me. All Corvettes are awesome and I'm blessed to even have this opportunity so I may as well go for it.

Had an 01 coupe and sold and ordered a 16 stingray and GM bought it back and bought a 17 GS off the show room floor and just picked up a C5 Z06. Like both but Z rides better and is quieter and has more cabin room and a lot more fun to drive. If I had my time to go over I would have taken the money from the buy back and hunted a low mile C5 Z06. Just like the looks of the FRC. Just my thoughts, good luck with your decision.

The platforms are really a night and day difference, especially the improved interiors of the C7.

I took delivery of my 2019 Z06/Z07 in July 2018, but as the original owner and due to all the sweat equity I put into my 2004 C5 convertible, I could not bring myself to trade or sell it. I enjoyed a nice honeymoon with the Z06, but over the last year, I've gotten the C5 back into consistent driving rotation. One of my favorite pleasures is driving a Corvette convertible top down on local beach roads on a cool, breezy Florida night.

I don’t have experience with c7 z51
but
I have my awesome c5 and my c7 Z06/ZO7,
When I drive them, they are 100% different vehicles, and I mean 100% different in every way,
c5 is a every day drivers car, very fun, and won’t bite if you push it, c7 z06 is ultra high performance sports car, and needs to be treated as one.
I would think z51 will be very nice happy medium.
even though it may have less horsepower than your supercharged c5, it may still be faster or as fast,
handling for sure will be better.

i personally think c5 looks as good as z51 c7

It won't even be close to as fast as your C5 in a straight line, but you can always fix that. Lots of creature comforts and modernization of the platform will make you really enjoy the new car. I was going to go new C7Z06 because I needed something radically different from my c5 to get me to bite, then the C8 came out put the deposit down with my dealer ended up in the #3 spot (built and sitting in BG right now). There's no wrong answer as long as you're happy being the wheel. I'm keeping my C5 because I have so many little things done I could never replicate it with out a lot of work and the cash value isn't worth it to me. Good luck with the decision either way remember to wave!

I personally have forced myself not to drive a C7. I want the chassis. It's not the looks or anything that stirs me, it's steering stiffness, more rigid chassis, etc. I have sat in them a few times, but they're def tighter if you're tall. I could live with it. Next build for me will like be a C7 GS with some aero and naturally aspirated build up. Can't blame anyone for goin C7...it's the final of the Dave Hill architecture based cars...as good as it gets chassis wise.

Ok so the deal is almost sealed. Traded 2 cars today and the third (my C5) goes Monday when I pick up the car. I'm looking forward to a change. Test drove it this morning and it's tight and claustrophobic inside but I got use to it pretty quickly. When I floored it, it was comparable to my supercharged C5 and is a great starting point for future mods if I decide. For now, it has everything I want for the deal that I couldn't pass up. I can't wait to really try out the handling dynamics of the Z51 suspension. Fully certified and waranteed. I got an unbelievable deal. Funny part is, I never tried out the sound system. Thank you everyone. Here it is.

Nice car. Love the red interior. I have been thinking of doing the same. I want a red or white z51. But I have to have a manual. I found a white 17 manual low miles but it was sold before I could get there. They sold it for a stupid low deal. C7 are dipping on C6 territory price.

Thank you! I never really liked red interiors or silver exteriors but this car really caught my eye when I saw it driving by. I think the wheels help too. The interior is maybe "too red" but when you see it up close it is really stunning. I guess I like it because it is different and still appears classy. It already has everything I've been doing and planning for my other cars such as Brembos, bigger rotors, suspension, custom interior. I thought to myself.. I've been spending all this time and money on parts for my cars and this one is already done from the factory.

Good lookin car and good choice on the C7. Funny thing, today my wife mentioned something about selling our C5 and jumping into a newer one. Things to ponder it seems....

Thank you. I took the C5 out tonight for a final romp and it will be bitter sweet to let it go but at this point and time it's a wise move for me. I will keep everyone posted when I pick up the car tomorrow..
