You nave to have either a very heavy right foot or an alignment problem. I have found that my tires wear out quite evenly front to back. If anything the fronts go first. I expect (and get) about 30k or more from a set of tires
I had all 4 GY go at 11000 twice. And yes I was in my 40s when I bought my car new and drove it like it was meant to be driven. To get 30 out of a set of GYs. Did you ever put your right Foot into it?
I had Michelin Pilot SS on my Cobra and the lasted less than 10000 miles. I currently have the Cooper Zeons on my C5 and they are a great tire. I don't notice any road noise and I have a Z06 exhaust so it's not extremely loud.
Realistically up front you can run 255/40 or 275/40/17. Rear 285, 295 or 305/35/18. 275 front / 305 rear is a good combo, but usually ones comes in race tires. 275 tire with a 285 or 295 rear will look fat, so I would opt for 255 fronts. So that leaves 255/285 or 255/295 combo.
The best performance all season tire is the Michelin PS A/S 3+..... it appears this is available in 255/285 combo and is currently having a great sale that ends today!
I heard those tires are really loud on the highway and it's keeping me away from them, I would hate to buy them, have them installed and not like them
I just recently put Z06 Speedlines on my '99 convertible. I have the optional stock Magnesium Sport wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3s but wanted to use those only in the colder months (October - March) and run the Z06 wheels with summer tires April - September. I gave up on run-flats years ago - just carry a small pump, scissor jack, patch kit, and AAA card.
In researching the options on Tire Rack, I looked as these options (prices were as of April but were still the same for the Continentals, which I purchased a couple of weeks ago). These Continentals are the first non-Michelin tires I have put on any of my cars in almost 25 years. Only had them a couple of weeks but so far, so good.
Tire Rack Options
Michelin – All-Season
Pilot Sport A/S 3+: 245/40/17 - $186.99; 285/35/18 - $233.99
Michelin – Summer
Pilot Sport 4s: 245/40/17 – $220.99; 285/35/18 – $314.99
Pilot Sport 2: 265/40/17 - $321.38; 275/40/17 - $363.79; 295/35/18 - $417.46
Sorry but an all season tire in Florida makes absolutely no sense. I would think you checked or had these parts you're replacing checked . Sway bar bushings also need checking. I'm suggesting you get your suspension squared away first. I have run Continental extreme sport, and now Michelin pilot sport 4s on my C5 and they are both excellent for wet, dry, and quiet. It would really suck if you replace things randomly then find out it didn't help. Don't forget a 4 wheel alignment when everything is done. JMHO

I work 10-12 hours days 6 days a week and don't have time for any racing or performance driving, so a tire that lasts longer would make more sense than a tire that lasts 10k miles like my set of PSS. Got new ball joints and front tie rods today. Going to knock everything out this weekend hopefully. It's been raining a lot in Miami recently.

Since you are willing to stray away from the stock sizes on your Z wheels like so many have, I may encourage giving the new General G Max RS a try. It is available in both 255 40 17 and 285 35 18 sizes. Pretty reasonably priced and likely still made in the USA.
On the 17" factory z wheel you are pretty much limited to a 275. Beware depending on the model of tire this can look kind of goofy as with that width comes extra sidewall height. Sometimes it's fine sometimes it looks horrible. They will also likely stick out of the fender a little bit.
Very few people will ever exceed the grip level of a 255 on the street.
These are just my opinions and I'm sure others will vary.
Your best source of info for this sorta thing is Tirerack itself or their tire reviews/comparisons. Yeah it's on the louder side for an all season tires, it's probably the best performance all season tire too, so something's gotta give. Good performance summer tires are louder too.
the A/S 3+ seems like a great compromise for your situation-- fair weather, lots of driving, not giving up too much in terms of performance etc.
You can even look at the break down of those tires on the tire rack tests..... track time, cornering G force etc. They really don't give up much vs average summer tire. They probably don't tolerate high heat as well, like on a track type scenario. But for street driving, probably not a big deal and that would also make it quite a bit better if you drive it in the winter time etc.
I have Bridgestone potenza's front and rear on factory speed lines, they're pretty darn good for the price, much quieter than the run flats, I just keep a can of Fix-A-Flat in the trunk!
Do you have the potenza re760's? I have those on a new to me 04 Z06 thats all stock 52k miles and tires were 2 year old according to the seller.... i continually spin tires in 1st and 2nd even with moderate acceleration and even though the tread seems newer they (to me) just dont grip well so I am looking for other tire options. seems a lot of guys here like the Nitto's and some like the Michelin Pilot Sports which I've had on other cars and were always fantastic but cost a bit more.
I was at the TR warehouse in DE on Friday to get mine. Because of corona - parts of the supply chain are broken and they did not have availability "for pickup" of the BFG's I was looking at. Wound up with Continental - first time and we'll see how it goes. Also glad I called them - the sales guy talked me into a "less aggressive size". Firment is on the attached TWS wheels I picked up from Roy in VA later that day Once everything is on will make a post in the "wheel and tire" sticky...
I went with the hankook v12 evo 2. They were the best deal on tire rack & I needed new tires asap. Hopefully they'll last more than 10k miles lol.
I think you did well and I would've probably bought the same, given the timing and the best deal at the moment. BTW, my Cooper RS3-S for my C6Z06 rear tire sizes are long gone, they're discontinued
I ordered new ball joints, control arm bushings and tie rods for my car and plan on changing them, rear inner tie rods are a pain to find and the dealership is the only one that seems to have them for $160 + tax.
The rear inner tie rods are not generally considered a wear item. That's why the tie rod ends are so much easier to find. Unless you really jacked up the rear end you probably only need to do the outer tie rod. Also, if you're replacing any part of the tie rod, you for sure need an alignment afterwards. Replacing the parts won't do you any good if the alignment is off.
Also, I run Michelin Pilot Super Sports (z rated) on the stock rims. I'm running 500 RWHP on an A&A supercharger kit. Even with some "spirited" driving, I'm getting WAY more than 10K on a set. Admittedly, I usually only drive on nice days. I have also upgraded my suspension with better sways bars and shocks, so that could be part of it too. The tires are very quiet. I have a vert, and don't notice any tire noise. Unless you're really abusing them, I think fixing your suspension issues and alignment will greatly improve the lifespan of the super sports. Plus, you simply will NEVER match the grip of a Z rated summer tire with an all season tire. Since you're in Florida, there's really no need for an all season. That's just my 2 cents.
I have a set of Nitto 555 G2's on my Coupe, they are great. This is my 4th set of 555s, get around 40K on each set. Good in the rain, quiet, no traction issues at all, but that car is stock.
I have the same tires. They have about 20k on them and I am also very happy with them. Car has just a few mods that may have increased hp a little but probably not much. Wife’s car has Firestone Indy 500s which we are also very happy with.
