Great to hear Rookie, I felt there was something amiss with your premium skyrocketing like that, and getting jerked around on the phone.
It was the pricing and customer service I heard about here and from other Vette friends that led me to NCM, and I’ve had nothing but a great experience so far.
A bit OTT, but I read this with interest. As an Allstate customer, my experience is totally different from the comments above. My other car was damaged by a suicidal full grown buck last fall. Allstate was a dream to deal with and gave me zero hassle. The bill ended up at close to $7k (all that electronic stuff behind the grill) and it was paid without a murmur. I'm still a customer and they have not upped my premium.
My 04 was insured by Hagerty but they're over priced. Went back to Grundy.
You do need another main car that's insured through another provider. Could that be the reason they wouldn't insure your 04?
WOW!!! I don't know where you live or your driving record but $400 on 20K is still high to me.
A lot of that has to do with your coverage amounts. I don't run bare minimums on insurance. My wife works in the field of personal injury Law and won't allow it lol.

Hagerty won't insure anybody whose daily driver is more than 10 years old. They turned me down for that reason.

It was nice to hear that Allstate came through for you. I too had an incident with a deer buck, and Allstate, or rather my wife did some years ago. The deer came off an embankment and landed in the road right in front of our Jeep grand Cherokee. The deer was struck and killed, front of the jeep damaged and roof. She called me and I went to the accident scene and found the damaged jeep with good size deer on the road behind the jeep. Had an accident report done, notified Allstate, adjuster came out. A few days later.I got a call from the Allstate fruad unit who threatened me with a criminal complaint on the Jeep's damage. After some heated back and forth I advised them I had a roll of film, probably about 20 photos showing the Jeep in its unmoved location, dead deer behind the Jeep, damage to the roof and deer hair imbedded in the roof rack. Their position was the deer could not possibly have damaged the roof and I was attempting a fraud. After viewing the photos Allstate relented and paid for the repair. No apology for the threat, but the Jeep was repaired. Lesson is always take photos at an accident scene and beware of insurance companies..
Just hope you don't have two in the same year with Allstate. Had one with my commuter car (hit head-on, not my fault) and one with my wife's Charger (she hit a dog at 2;30 in the morning). Got a break-up letter from Allstate. So much for Good Hands!
