^ I ordered dark brown seat rail caps because that's what I first found when I looked for them.
It doesn't matter what color you get so long as you get the 4 correct cap numbers. You can keep digging thru part numbers to find black OEM caps but the brown can be easily sprayed black to match the seats.
Here's the 4 caps I ordered from Gene @ Cultrag, price included.
That was the missing piece for which I've been waiting. And with perfect timing, today I found the holy grail: a pair of black w/suede 3LT C7 Competition Sport seats. I can't believe my C5 will finally have great seats with power and memory fully functional.
@OP, do you have the part numbers for the C7 track covers?
TIA
With any seat other than the C5 factory seats you will not have any of the seat memory functions. This goes for the instructions in Option 1 of the doc I posted last night. All that will do is allow the telescopic column function to work.

Ahh, gotcha. I'll set expectations accordingly.
I'm still working through some ideas about removing the airbags and modifying the control bezels for clearance with the lower seat belt mount.
Fantastic.. this is great!! I'll probably go option 2, I think it'll end up looking a lot neater than shoving the c5 harness under the seats.
Thanks a bunch for this!
by the way, any issues with the airbags on c7 seats? I'm looking at a few pairs that had deployed airbags, I suppose it doesn't matter either way, since the airbags won't connect to the c5 control?
No issues with keeping them intact if present as they would never work on a C5. Unless you tied the trigger wire to the steering wheel airbag trigger wire but my God that is a scary proposition
JMG2 posted this in the thread you started in C7 General.
With the C5 the logic to control the telescopic column is part of the seat control module. That is why a separate control module or splicing in the C5 seat control module is needed as I stated in the C5 General thread on this.
As to the fan and heat components, they seem to be integrated with the HVAC system in the C7.
For the C6 seats I can make the factory heated ones work, and have done that.
Great info Gary.
I have a set of C6 seats ready to install in my C5.
Is there a harness adaptor, or is one even needed?
My C5 does have memory , however I'd be willing to lose it and just have power seats!
Appreciate any input or sourcing info!!

There is a vendor that has a harness adapter. Think a link was posted in this thread or one of the 3 other current threads on c6 and c7 seats into a c5.

The vendor who makes the harnesses tells me that they are not available until September. I have been waiting on one since before I got these seats put in.

p.s. the harnesses are not inexpensive.
there is no harness for the c7 seats -> c5 car, right?
