I don't believe it fixes anything like that, just makes it nice and tidy. Gary's solution above will be the way to go

yeah, I guess you could use the harness, and splice into it with Gary's solution to fix the telescoping steering issue.

That is how I did the 2 cars worked on. All the harness gives you is a nice locking connector to the seat.
JDMVETTE, I did ziptie the wires plugged into the seat end to the bracket next to the connector.

^ no I haven't attempted Gary's relay solution yet. My harness just offers up the seat power back, forth, up, down and recline action.

Will try the telescopic fix at some point down the road

just spoke with Dan at vetteworks, he didn't realize the C5 had telescoping steering. he said adding that fix to his current adapters shouldn't be a problem, he's going to get back to me. if he does, then getting everything buy memory to work will be plug and play.

Thanks for the info! I emailed Dan and referenced your post asking him to be sure to add telescopic to my harness when his parts arrive.

How are the connections working now that you have the VetteWorks adapters installed? I have a set ordered, just wanting on them to be shipped to me. Dan had to make mine slightly different since my car does not have a power passenger seat from the factory (Z06) and i want to use power/heat/cooling on both drivers and passenger sides. No issue with telescoping, as that was not available on the Z06.

^ honestly the new harness works exactly the same as the one I made myself, just with the official male end that plugs into the seat.

One thing I did notice is that the new driver harness plugs into a different pin than the way I had it wired on mine (white wire vs pink wire) but the function is the same on either pin.

My driver wiring:

The new driver harness wiring:

The passenger harness plug came wired the same way my homemade harness was pinned.

These new wiring harness are very expensive for what they are and you can save a ton of money if you wire the seats yourself.

Did you cut off the plug from your old seats to make the harness on your own.. or were you able to find a male seat plug for the C5 somewhere ? I wonder how hard it would be to find a male C7 plug on our own.

I cut the male C5 plug from the seat and plugged it into the factory floor female harness. I then wired it into the necessary female pins on the C7 seats.

I have since then paid an exorbitant amount for a P-n-P harness set for both seats and put my homemade harnesses in the toolbox never to be used again.

Yeah.. I saw the prices for their harnesses. $100+ per side is ridiculous. That's why I'm trying to hunt down the connectors used, so I can make my own harness The C5 connector is easy enough to find.. having trouble locating the connector for the C7 seats side. I want to avoid cutting the plugs off my seat or the harness in the car if possible.

It ain't cheap but there's a whole harness for sale right now.

I can beat that price by about half if you really want mine. Send me a PM if interested

On second thought.. I think it'll just tap into the existing wiring and just splice them together with some spade connectors.

If your passenger side doesn't have any wires (Was previously a manual sliding seat) can you jump power from the driver side?

^ I'm sure any non-switched, fused power source will work. It just takes 3 wires to get these seats moving

Just wanted to add my install to the mix.
I ended up finding a set of red C7 GS seats in pretty neglected condition, but for a steal. It took many hours of elbow grease to get them cleaned up and looking presentable.
I left the C5 belts intact, so the hump at the bottom stayed. I cut away part of the C7 seat side panel to fit around it once I found where it would need to be for my seating position.
I bought jdmvette's seat pigtail, and used that to create a wiring harness to the stock seat connector.
I also designed and 3d printed an adapter to allow me to use the stock C5 bolt covers. Sure beats spending $30 a pop on C7 covers!

Now that I've installed the flat bottom wheel, I'm really happy with the interior. It really freshens up the interior and the seats make a WORLD of difference. They're solid and keep me snug where I need to be. And they look amazing.

I really appreciate the write-ups from all you folks. It made it much easier to go through the process.

All in all, I'm very happy with the result, and the red really pops (I've always wanted a car with red seats, so I may be biased)!

Cutout for seatbelt

Just a bit of red poking out
