I need to start a list of parts and supplies for a stock 99 LS1. The car has received nothing but oil and filter changes in the 10 years and 30k miles I’ve added and while it still performs well, I think it’s time to freshen things up. I will say that I have no idea of the number of miles on any of the normal wear and tear items another reason for thinking it’s time. the car has just over 80k on the odometer.

Help me develop this list with the products that you have used and had good results.

All other fluids could be changed. Trans, diff, PS, beake might be in order. Other than that, unless you want to do some performance upgrades, you’d be done till something breaks. Could do some bushings which would be replaced if you upgraded sways. What are you looking to freshen? Perhaps a deep detail?

I’m thinking plugs, wires, trans and diff fluid change, clutch fluid with bleeder, brake fluid flush. I’m more interested in the actual products people are using than in the items to address. I have to do the 4 way flasher mod as my turn signals are acting up the daytime running light on the passenger side is out and I think I would like to go with led’s also one of my fog lights is burnt out. Maybe I should install a catch can.

Great call on the catch can. I did a Moroso can. Pulling the intake is not difficult, it just takes time, if you want to clean it out. Throttle body by-pass is another item that many of us have done. That back plug on the DS is a real joy to get out.....

How are the brakes and tires?

The column lock by-pass modification is another prevalent mod. Look up the LMC5 module.

i have a ls6 intake sitting on the shelf so that as a possibility, hadn’t thought about the tb bypass. Brakes were upgraded with slotted and drilled rotors and braided stainless lines and they feel great. I do have a set of upgraded pads waiting in the wings. Front tires are great, I could use some new rears.

If you pull the intake you might think of the oil sending unit --replace or do the relocate so it will be easy the next time.

i was just under the car and when I saw the fuel filter I wondered if everyone has that on a mileage or timetable for changing . I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not the original filter from 1999.

I just did my oil change and when I started the car back up I noticed a chirping sound that I believe is coming from the belt tensioner, so maybe that needs to be on the list. I’ll double check my balancer but last I looked, no wobble.

Only the second time to use the quickjack since I got it last August, mostly since the car has been in storage for almost 9 months.

It was oil change day for the wife’s car too. Just used a floor jack and jack stands on it because I had other issues to look at on the Vette..

Turn signals working again after replacing a bad bulb. I have one fog light out and somewhere I have new upgraded fog light bulbs if I can just find them again after the move.

Back under the car this afternoon and decided to go ahead with a diff fluid change, transmission fluid change and do the anti venom mod while I’m in the vicinity. I don’t want you guys to feel like you’re beating a dead horse but if you have specific brand fluids for these chores, I’d love to hear them. Of course I saw the tag on the transmission to use Dexcon III but I’m not sure that is my best choice. I do have a 99. Also if any of you have recently done the anti venom mod I need the size of the washer used. I think I already bought some years ago but did not do the mod at the time. I moved so no hope of finding them again probably.

I also checked and no leakie butt, however there was a oily film at the junction of the diff and transmission that I haven’t seen before. Not enough to drip at least not yet, any ideas where it might originate? It was only oily on the right ( passenger) side pretty much from top to bottom. Left side is dry as a bone.

Two pack of washers for the AV mod:
Engine Oil Drain Plug Gasket Dorman 65277

I used both but many start with one and then determine if the second is required.
