Default C5 led headloght problems

Hi:

I changed my headlight and foglight bulbs from OEM TO SEALIGHT LED bulbs. I checked my work as I went along and everything was working as planned.

I had disconnected my battery and manually moved the pop-up using the handy hand screw crank during my work.

After I reassembled everything, I closed the hood and did one more check.

1. The Light mechanism popped up as normal..

2. The new headlights worked perfectly on high and low beams, and needed no adjustment.

3. The new LED fog lights also worked as expected.

When I turned the headlights full off, guess what? The headlights would not close. The lights seemed to be off but I was still getting a warning that my lights were on. Upon closer inspection, a noticed a faint amount of light coming from my low beam lights.

I checked every fuse related to the headlight system and no issues. I cranked the headlights down by hand and parked the car but had to didconnect the battery in order not to let it go dead overnight.

Have you any idea as to what is going on?

Just an FYI the LED don't draw enough voltage for the headlights to go down unless the car is running or they high beams are on.

Ya, turn the high beams on if they are still halogen. They will drop.

I put LEDs in my C5. You will need to turn on the high beams before turning off the lights or you can buy the resistor kit many people sell. It is a large resistor that gets hot but increases the current draw so the headlights will go off from the low beam position. I decided I did not need a large, hot resistor in my car.

Or do this.. No hot resistors needed.

I had this issue intermittently when I was running LEDs. It's actually one of the reasons that I switched to the ACA bi-xenon lights. This is a very common issue with the LEDs. If the high beam trick doesn't work, the only real solution is the resistor. They are cheap and easy to install. I was also able to solve the issue by repeatedly turning the light on and off manually until it worked properly, but that is super annoying. Best of luck. If you can afford it, I highly recommend the ACA headlights. They're just better all around (except for price). To this day, I smile when they just close on their own when I turn off the car (just like stock lights did, only they're brighter with a sharper beam pattern).
