That sux that the rim cracked. At least it didn't break apart. Since you have new tires...
If it were me, I would just buy another C5 five spoke wheel.

While it does happen, it isn't super common.

I agree. Have some C5 wheels cracked, sure they have. But I would say the number is relatively small and you would have to know what the circumstances were - was a severe pothole hit, etc.

I bought another C5 rear wheel, I think that’s the best option.
hopefully it won’t crack again until my new tires are worn out.

i didn’t hit anything that would crack the wheel,
usually pot holes affect the inner part of the rim because it’s very thin,
no balance issue, not even a scratch,
but a nice 2.5 inch crack 🤷‍♂️

If you just bought the tires and want to run them, get some cheap scrub C5 wagon wheels - I just picked up a set for $100 the other day that were in perfect shape.
The heat of powder coating it could have caused the issue. Hard to say though. Good luck with the new wheel. I think you made the right choice.

I don't have this problem. I ditched the stock wheels
years ago for forged wheels.

I presume you mean flow forged right, like Forgestar? Those are cast and not forged.
Cast wheels are probably in the $10,000/set of 4 range

you are correct sir, forgestar wheels are cast aluminum wheels, but during the process of flow forming the inner thin part of the wheels are slightly stronger, however the side that is near the hub and thicker part is still soft and cast.

true forged wheels are very expensive.

silver wheel ( I ordered in bronze just like the one on the Porsche) HRE RS200M Fully forged wheel, $12.000 a set out the door.

The bronze wheels are forgestar wheels, beautiful looking wheels, very similar in design and looks, not forged, $ 1900 out the door.

it all comes down to what you gonna use the vehicle for, and $$
they all look beautiful, regardless if they are forged or not.

99% if the sports cars on the road have cast wheels and they are perfectly fine.
but things dramatically change when that vehicle goes to track.
