I don't know anything about Home Depot Quick Jacks, but FWIW there is a place in S. Michigan that sells 2 post lifts for $1,495, or $1,595.00. ARESCO. I bought a 2 post lift last time I had to pull the drive train. Almost 10 years old, no problems. Just sayin'......
EDIT: NOT $1,500/$1,600 anymore. Now $1,899.00 Sorry, I guess they've gone up some!!
The QuickJacks are the way to go for a guy with a normal garage set up. I can’t wait.
Oh man...finally got confirmation my last parts are due in this week. Here’s the list
TSP 228R Camshaft, dual valve spring kit, LS7 lifters, LS2 timing chain, LS Rockers w/ trunnion upgrade, ATI Super Damper, Melling Oil pump, TSP Long tube headers w/ off-road x-pipe, all new factory GM tensioners, pulleys, belts, oil pressure sensor and water pump. Using all ARP fasteners to put everything back together along with the TSP premium gasket set. Gonna be a long weekend.
First day into the tear down. Got quite the mess in the garage. Should have everything torn apart tomorrow so I can start clean up and prepping for the new parts
Heads, balancer and cam are all out. Now it’s just cleaning up all the gasket surfaces. Cleaning the deck is by far the worst part of this job so far. I’ve also decided to order heads. I’m pretty sure I’ve settled on a set from Texas Speed. 1400.00 for a set of CNC’d 243 seasoned heads. I looked at the flow numbers and their PRC 15 Deg heads for over 2000.00 don’t flow any better from what it shows.
Got all the threads chased in the block to install the new heads. Pulled the valley cover and replaced the gasket. Installed a new oil pressure sensor while I had the cover pulled.
Finally got the new heads in. Trick Flow GenX 215s. I swapped out their .600 dual springs for the TSP .660 dual springs with the titanium retainers. Here’s a couple photos with the Harland Sharp rockers installed. Once I got the heads hung and torqued to 25ft/lbs I measured for push rod length. Found I need 7.500s instead of the 7.400s I have.
Got quite a bit done once I got the heads. Pretty much everything’s back together minus the valve covers/coil packs. Still have a few loose items to finish up.
Real close to being fully assembled. Pushrods are in. Rocker are on. Just need to rotate the engine a few times and retorque. Still need to flush the power steering.
She’s Alive!! First crank and it fired right up. It idled pretty good for the first few minutes but it finally figured out there’s been some changes. Didn’t throw a cel until the second or third start up. I’ll be calling the tuner on Monday to get it scheduled in. It sounded phenomenal even with it running a bit rough. Can’t wait to get it dialed in.
