my 2002 worked fine until it didn't in 2015. Left me stuck at my apartment complex's mailbox. At a minimum, it's worth having on hand for when it does fail. But it will fail at the gas station after you fill up and you'll be asking to borrow a paperclip from a crackhead so you can release the BCM pins and laying over the passenger door sill with your legs out in the road where some idiot in a lifted brodozer he financed at 14% will run over your feet.

Adding to an old thread: I bought my minty 2004 C5Z in 2012 as the third owner @18K miles. I experienced the “Pull key and wait” message on multiple occasions. My car had previously had the recall which disables or eliminates the column lock mechanism. I read up online about the problem, bought a $250 AGM battery in 2014 which did not fix it, but after that the “LMC5 with brown wire mod” fixed my problem 99+% of the time. I have seen that error message again twice in the last 10 years, so it’s not a 100% fix but close enough for me. I am a retired electrical engineer and hardware designer and recommend this post by JH 1998 at https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...lling-key.html to explain how the LMC5 works.
