Like others have said, the MGW is the top of the line. Install is not bad on a C5 at all. I have a friend who's tried every alternate shifter available until he got his MGW a few years ago. I do like what I see Mike? at TMODS doing with his product.
I sold my 2014 Z51 vert with only 10K miles on because a guy put a sack of 100 dollar bills down in front of me that was nearly as much as I paid for it 4 years ago.... paid 50 sold it for 49K .... then I had sellers remorse... got to looking at for sale ads and found this very nice low miles 2004 comm ed vert for bank payoff 15K ... so I bought it.... it's my 8th Vette. It's my 2nd C5 and a six speed. I miss the C7 but the C5 is special too! Thanks for all the opinions on the shifter! Courtney
What are opinions on the flat stick MGW vs. the regular? Is it purely a visual difference? I just bought a 2002 with a hurst ball shift **** but would like to add a short throw. Thank you. Also, does everyone buy form MGW direct?
There was an MGW on my car when I bought it and I HATED it. It constantly popped out of gears and was crazy hard to shift.
I went to a C6 shifter and it was much better. If I was just using this on the street I would stop there.
I had issues missing a few shifts on road courses so I recently got a deal on an LG shifter and installed it this week. I would say it's definitely more stiff than the C6 shifter and the notches are more pronounced, but it also has a beefy centering spring which will make it more stable under lateral G's. So far I think I'll like it but the racetrack will be the true test.

AFAIK the only thing is looks, which I can understand if you don’t have much of a boot to cover the shaft.
I bought, and recommend buying from MGW directly. They have great support.
It’s the best shifter I’ve ever used. period.
If it seems too notchy do the ‘anti venom’ mod which you can find more info here. It loosens the tension slightly.
