I’m new to the forum and unsure if this is the correct way to ask.
In December I purchased a C5 Corvette Mallett #98-024c build date 8-15-08. The build records are missing at the moment. I’ve contacted Chuck Mallett but no help. I’ve contacted the Corvette Museum and they told me they did not receive any build sheets at all for any Corvettes from Mallett. I’ve traced the original owner and he hasn’t them but confirmed he spent in excess of $65,000 with Mallett including supercharger. The car has only covered 3,000 miles since the 2008 build.
My question is can anyone help me with a visual to identify what build was done on the car and what I should be looking for? A 396 or 435 or Mallett conversion?
I believe it was the last C5 they converted.
Thank you,
John
Congratulations on your Mallett.
You may see if the Mallett Registry has any information for you. They are at: https://mallettcars.com/vehicle-registry/
Best wishes with getting more info on your car!
Thank you.
Unfortunately my car being being built in 2008 just prior to Mallett closing isn’t on the register for some reason. I asked Chuck Mallett if he could put it in the registry but no response.
On the Mallett registry, super charged cars had a -S after the car number, not a -C. There is no -C on any of the Mallett cars through all his years listed on the registry. There is a -R, for the 427 race block. How many Mallett serial number plates are attached to your car and where. His super charger set ups in the early models had a horizontal mounted radiator, kind of odd looking.
Yes it was one of the options. Very few have them on. It’s listed in the option package on Mallett website.
I have a set of black Mallet rims that I was going to use for street driving that I bought three years ago. My track car has essentially become a trailer queen so I don't even drive it on the street so no need for the Mallets. I'm going to sell the rims, not sure if black is your color (you could always powder coat them) but I do believe they are one of the best looking Corvette rims ever produced, hence why I bought them for the street.
Nice looking car,....enjoy it but be careful as I'm sure it gets squirrely when the boost hits.

whatever it is, it looks incredible, it deserves to be driven more than 3kmiles in 12 years.
enjoy and tell us how it feels.
Very interesting car. I do not think that it is a Mallett package car. It appears to have some Mallett upgrades. The hood and the humps behind the seats are RK Sport. The Mallett packages all included the hood I thought. There were wheels too, but those may have been optional.
