Battery Mat

So I see all these posts about only using AGM batteries. In my lifetime I never had a battery leak. Question what if you use a battery mat under your battery, if it leaks wouldn't the battery mat absorb the acid.

Because the computer and main harness is under the tray why take a chance?

I know the computer is underneath it, my question was do battery mats work, if it absorbs the acid how will it get below. just wondering if anybody ever seen one of these mats work
