The 4l65 is a 4 speed, I assume you’re referring to a 6l80 that the c6’s got part way through production. My corvette is manual, but I’ve looked into doing this to my old truck.
The c5 pcm won’t be able to control the trans. You will need a stand alone controller. Alternatively it may be possible to convert to the c6 computer, but I believe you’d also need to convert your engine from a 24x to 58x reluctor.
All this assumes it will even fit, I don’t know if it will maybe someone else can chime in. My guess is it would since the chassis’ aren’t so different
Research stand alone controllers and see what all is involved to implement it to your setup. TCM-2650 should work I think but my research was not very extensive, as I decided I will just do an entire gen V powertrain swap in the future with oem computers.
I upgraded to a stage 5 transmission from RPM. It's still a 4 speed, but now it's very snappy. However, I can't give an honest opinion on how much difference this would make on it's own as I did it at the same time as an A&A kit. Not sure I'd want a 6 speed as it would keep my boost down.
I've seen a few C5's with transplanted 6L80's. Install wasn't too tough but getting them to interface was the real issue. There's a shop in AZ that sells everything, Zero Gravity Performance.
