I purchased four new tires for my C5 and when I drive 55 and over I feel my car shake like if it was wobbling every couple of seconds consistently. I check the tires they all look good their balanced the car is aligned and when I drive slow or 40 or 50 the car doesn’t vibrate, over 50, it vibrates at the same intervals every couple of seconds. Does anyone know what this could be.
thank you and looking forward to your help or suggestions
Got new tires on old Grand Am at discount tire, got on freeway car was shaking bad, took to another Discount tire next day, all 4 wheels were improperly balanced.
Also the goons at first Discount tire broke off lug stud and didn't tell me, Discount sent me to a shop and they payed them to replace the broken stud.
Lost some of the chrome lug nut cover shields, more of a for looks thing, bought more at a self serve salvage yard with a car that had same hub caps.
I don’t remember, I had it in storage for over 2 years. I did see that the four tires
Were dried out, so I replaced them with new ones.
I was told by the mechanic that the car looks great but it did need the tires.
My car didn't shake before new tires. Soon as my new tires were mounted and balanced I went for a drive and the car shook from 45 and up. Went back and rebalanced with no luck. Went to a tire shop that had road force balancing and had that done. No more shake at any speed.
I made almost the exact same post.
Going to look at getting that road force rebalance and a alignment also.
Just bought a 2001 convertible and purchased new tires and rims from a vendor here, mounted and balanced. Car has about 73,000 miles on it. While driving on the freeway at around 60 mph I start to get a weird vibration, it doesn't feel like its in the steering wheel as much as the whole front end starts to shake. Its not constant, more like if you say out loud, "one, two, three, four, smooooth" then it repeats.
I had that happen to me once 'back in the day' when I put some Sears radials on my 280Z. Turned out the tires were egg shaped, so even though they were balanced, they caused vibrations at 70MPH. Sears' solution was to remind me that the speed limit back then was 55 so vibrations at 70 shouldn't matter, and that it's illegal that I even knew it vibrated.
