just the nature of it.
Truer words have never been spoken!! JMG2, you have a damn fine garage there, for sure!! North Carolina is a BEE-YOU-TEA-FULL State. My Uncle lived in Cherokee for over 35 years. He's passed now, but thru him I discovered the Tail of the Dragon, and so many wonderful mountain roads. Congrats!!!!

Plenty of room for activities in that garage!

Well, I'll be in / around WIlmington for Saturday and Monday to explore. I haven't been to Bragg / Liberty in what seems like forever now, and we won't be getting there this weekend. Just a wedding and some local exploration.

Have any recommendations for the Wilmington area? I've usually just cruised past going to Atlanta, Huntsville or FL.... or veered west before going that far south.

We're closer to Charlotte than the shore -- the house is on lake Norman... can't give you and recommendations for Wilmington .

If youre going near Ft. Bragg, check out the one time retreat for the Rockefeller family, called "Overhills." Google Overhills Rockefeller Estate. Federal government purchased it from the family about 25-30 years ago, and its now part of Ft. Bragg. It is now in ruins, but a lot of things still standing. It was an awesome place, like 50 or 60 square miles. Had railroad tracks laid down across the property so trains could deliver anything they needed. Donald Ross designed 18 hole golf course, said to be finer than anything at Pinehurst.....

We downsized to a smaller home on a larger piece of property 3 years ago.
Old house had an attached 5 car heated/air conditioned garage.
New house has an oversized attached 2 car garage, I installed a 4-post lift and started the process of building a detached garage almost imediately.
Fast forward, received required variances (3) on 4/10/24 and building permits were issued last week.
I would have gone bigger if I thought I could get it approved, but went with guidance of lawyer and engineer I had to hire. (pole barn was out of the question, and would not have been approved)
I am in the NJ Highlands area and RR1 building zone (minimum 5 acre lot)
Maximum detached building hight allowed is 16 foot, and I need a minimum of 10 foot for the four post lifts.
Started digging last week, and of course hit solid rock.

This thread is almost three years old, and your post has nothing to do with the OP. I suggest starting your own thread to get attention to your topic.
