Had a good look at a C8 from all angles this a.m. My first impression was that it was very wide and low, but it's only 2" wider than a C5, and is in fact 1" taller. I guess it's the head light/front fender styling that kind of flares out to the sides that makes it look wider than it actually is. Surprised about the height though.
It's also longer than the C5. And 100+ lbs heavier.

A proper response would be a photo shoot with the two Corvettes side by side... A little hint to the photo folks out there... Your efforts would be greatly appreciated by many.
100 pounds is pretty good considering all the equipment it has that a C5 doesn't.
Every model gets heavier it seems. Tho' I would have thought going to a mid engine layout should have been an opportunity for both overall package size and weight reduction, as the "hard points" to wrap the body around are more compact. The Le Mans winning Ford GT40's would look almost tiny next to a C8, being 20" shorter for a start - and only weighing 2200 lbs.
It's bigger, a little longer but drivers smaller. It has way quicker and more precise steering. Driving it you would think it's the smaller car, but it's not. Then again when you factor how much extra stuff is in this car and the quality is really amazing. I'm sure the C9 will be even better.

Isn't a standard 2 car garage 20x20? My C5 has around(est) 8 ft left over.
?? C5 is ~180 inches long, 20ft = 240in. 240-180 = 60in. It's likely that people don't park right up to the garage door, so take off another 8in. 52" left is only 4ft 4in.

You guys must have just cars in garage - not 2 dirt bikes, 2 snowblowers, extra set of tires, full size freezer, full electrical cabinet for misc, lawn mower, generator, full tool cabinet, full size compressor ect ect ect. As the ladies say….it’s down to inches!😂

I have to agree. I have a 16'×16' addition, with a 12' tall ceiling, on my garage to accommodate a 2 post lift. My C5 has only about a foot of space left at the back. If it was 20ft long (4' longer), I'd have 5' (60") at the back. As for weight, my 2000 C5, A4 Vert, with an LS7 transplant, LT headers, oil and trans coolers with stainless reinforced lines (colloquially known as AN), weighed on a certified grain scale, weighed exactly 3,250lbs on the button, with a half tank of gas......
I’ve always thought the C5 was a pretty small car compared to just about everything else on the road.
I sold my 99 coupe a few weeks ago to make room for this. My garage instantly got deeper by a little over 2-1/2 feet, it’s 3/4 the size of my C5’s
And it’s about 1,140 lbs. lighter than my “light” Z06
