Default jacking pucks

Anyone use the 4 piece jacking pucks on amazon that stay installed on the car? I've seen the plastic ones with retaining clips as well as aluminum ones.

I will never again use a plastic jacking puck after having one shear and drop the car.

I have the aluminum screw on ones that you leave on the car. They have worked perfectly and have never scraped on anything. My car is pretty low as well.

Puck the jack, not the car. And definitely not both, right?

May i ask which ones you specifically have if you dont mind? Ive seen the plastic ones but do look cheap or not durable and the aluminum ones that are only for jacking purposes. The aluminum ones with the brick screw in insert that stays installed on the vehicle?

I'm just using the cheap rubber lock-in type units sold on eBay. $15 for the whole set and "no ragrets".

may i ask which ones you have? id prefer the aluminum as well but need to make sure the oval areas aren't dented in.
Was looking for a permanent solution for jacking pucks as the tire shop i had a 95 lt1 one time just slide the jack under and bent the front fender flange.

Just search ebay for c5 corvette jacking pucks, They were the first result when I just searched, less than $14. They're not a specific brand.

I don't think these would be good for a leave-in-full-time solution though. They twist into place, but I wouldn't trust them to stay there while driving.

I intentionally didn't buy aluminum ones. Metal-on-metal is a lot more likely to slide/move than rubber-on-metal. In my case, I bought them to use with my Quickjack and I'd still rather have rubber-on-rubber to decrease susceptibility of sliding/moving.

I use these ones from Mid West Corvette, they seem pretty high quality and the locking clips don't break off like the cheap ebay/amazon ones do. Work great for me.

The problem with plastic jack pucks relates to the jacks most of us use. A typical service floor jack moves slightly longitudinally as the jack pad moves upward and raises the car -- because the jack arm is pivoted from the rear. The service jack HAS to move slightly as the car is raised. This movement is accommodated by the service jack wheels. Most service jacks do not have grease or lubrication fittings on their wheels and as the weight of the car is transferred to the jack, the wheel friction and horizontal force required to rotate the wheels as the the jack moves and allow it to stay under the car jack point can be substantial. A rough garage floor exacerbates the problem.

While jacking the car with a service jack there can be a substantial horizontal force on the jack puck, particularly with an old service jack with rusty wheel axles and wheel bores and or a rough garage floor.

In my view, jack pucks need to be solidly anchored to the frame and made of a material that does not fatigue rapidly from horizontal forces at the jack pad/ frame connection.

Not plastic.

I bought mine from ZL1 Addons. Aluminum, screw on type. A dab of Blue Loctite on the screws. My car is a track toy so it's up on jacks often and these work GREAT. $70 for a set 'o four. Well worth it.

I have been using a set of BMW jacking pucks (I would guess plastic) on my last two C5s and now my C7. They have not given me any problems. Just depends on what you really feel safe using - the aluminum ones work well too.

Anyone mind sharing pictures of your pucks? Also which bmw pucks are you referring too. I had seen pntz polyurethane couplers for bmw that sell for 50$ on amazon are the same size as corvette compared to the 6 shooter dss 200$-250$ coupler.

Really nice so you insert the rectangular piece with it loosely together turn it half way and tighten it up? Im looking for pucks you keep on the car. Let me get a picture of my jacking areas or where you would insert the pucks. They aren't perfectly straight from jacking or jack stands i believe.
