I often refer to my Corvette as my baby, but it doesn't really have a name. The '95 Mustang that I used to have before the Vette was named "Pony Car" That was the license plate as well. When I traded it in for the Vette, the guy at the dealer offered to transfer my old plates. I obviously declined as having plates that say pony car on a Corvette would have just been wrong!
Am I allowed to post in C5, or do I have to buy a different Corvette?
I'm bad at naming things as you can tell by my screen-name. Although the Corvette has come close being the Kilobuck Korvette, I don't actually call it that anywhere but in my head. None of the other vehicles has a name except for the ironic but unimaginative "Mighty TDI."
Something that seems to have occurred naturally though, is for a few of the vehicles to have mascots. The pickup truck had a lot of Mack Trucks paraphernalia on it because we were doing a lot of work with a Mack dealer, so it accumulated fender posts, decals and such. Most of that has gone by the wayside over the years. Although the mudflaps remain, and I still have a set of floormats somewhere. Thus, it's mascot is a bulldog. It almost ended up with one on the hood. Fortunately, it was spared that wound.
Mom's Buick acquired a rubber duck mascot. There were a bunch of them around for a while because of some school thing the kid was doing, and one got left in the car. Now it sits attentively, although occasionally precariously on the floor hump. I may glue a strong magnet to it's tush to help keep it there. There is a certain irony to it because this Buick replaced the one that she allowed to drown during Sandy. So maybe the idea of something that floats as a reminder that cars don't, and mom should have listened to her son for a change.
I present... Count Duckula!
So in lieu of a name, does anybody's car have a mascot?
Grandpa's 1963 race car back in the '70s was nicknamed the KAHUNA. Ive used the black and gold theme on most of my cars, but happened to buy a blue C5. Since this car is still street legal I call it "Street Kahuna".
