So I’m in the middle of a complete audio upgrade. My plan was to mount the amp in the middle of the rear wall. There just nothing back there but the fiberglass. Has anyone mounted an amp there? I think I’ll probably pull the rear tail lights and bolt a piece of 1/2” mdf to the rear wall and mount the amp to the mdf. This spot really hides the amp. I absolutely don’t want some obnoxious looking amp rack in the hatch.
Just looking for suggestions or thoughts from someone whose done it.
In two of my C5s, I put the amp (amps) behind the passenger seat. I first glue a board to the fiberglass (under the carpet) and then screw into it for mounting the amplifier. The seat bolt is a great ground for the amplifier.
I did in a convertable, it was a five channel: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...amp-mount.html You can use MDF, lexan or 1/8" thick aluminum; some 1/2" aluminum angle on the wall ouitside will spread the load if a thin substrate is used.

I counter sunk the screws and attached them on the other side of the fiberglass with large washers and locknuts. I test fit the back wall carpet and everything seems to go into place.
My car had a stereo install done at some point in its life prior to my purchase. I really like the amp integration and mounting, but would have done the hidden subwoofer, but I get what they were going for. It's just a total PITA to put anything in the trunk.
It’s the whole surround honestly. I don’t want to scratch it all up (already has a mark or two from the PO) , so if I’ve got anything back there I try and throw a heavy blanket over the top of it.
Some day I’ll get the mount that maintains the actual floor.
