While judging at car shows Ive noticed that most of the C2 entrants had a battery cut off in side the engine bay. Now Im not suggesting that but maybe someting along those lines that can be placed somewhere

Agreed, it's just one part of a multi-part solution. If you're worried about someone breaking into your car starting it and running away with it, ravelco will give you probably the best protection against that. The car is next to impossible to start without the key cap (in any realistic amount of time).... busting the steering col, hotwiring, nothing works.

It does absolute **** to prevent the car from getting stripped. For that, a really, really good alarm is your best bet. I personally think the best combo is Ravelco + a really good alarm. The ravelco prevents them from steeling the car, and the alarm blaring *hopefully* gets them nervous enough that they don't stick around to strip everything out of your car.

Where in CT are you?

Not far from you in Wallingford. Nothing is far in Connecticut. When I worked running a union shop where I knew I had active crime next door and on the property too I made sure to tell people life stories which painted a picture. I was never hassled.

I love my C5 I would be devastated to see it stolen.

thank you

I will tell you this; many times, the thieves are after your wheels and tires!! When my '85 IROC was ripped off in '92, it was recovered, and all four tires and wheels were stripped, and the radio was ripped out of the dash. At the impound yard, I took a lot of pictures, THANK GOD!! Because the yard ripped off the radiator, A/C condenser, battery, and electric cooling fan. Back to wheels and tires. Remember Goodyear Gatorbacks? $250.00 each, THIRTY years ago. So there's a grand. New IROC wheels were $373.00 from GM, THIRTYyears ago, so there's another $1,500.00. We're now at $2,500 for wheels and tires. Vehicle totaled, bought it back, blah, blah. I'll bet all of us would be shocked at what the replacement value of four new runflat Goodyear tires, and 4 new wheels from GM, would be. I'll bet it's over 4k!!! This is why I stopped using wheel locks. All the wheel shops, and body shops told me the thieves have no more trouble taking wheel locks off, than they have stealing your car. This hidden switch sounds like a great idea......

Could get yaself an anxious Malinois female who doesn't like people touching her dad's car.... you go to the right neighborhood and she brings all the cute girls over. Go to the wrong neighborhood and they know.

There are also 360* cams you can install to the dash which report back to your cell phone with live video and pics if the car is even bumped.

Or if the car is that much to you, don't take anywhere you're gonna leave it out of sight.

On my way to buy NOS aircraft ON / OFF switch.

there is a local store near me that sells brand new made in USA military aircraft switches.

I have to think of a location 🤫 to hide the switch.
If you need a good, heavy duty sp switch get with a small engine repair shop and ask for a chainsaw switch...nothing more bullet proof. Used them in my race cars for years without a failure.

Years ago on the forum it was popular to go to the brake lock up to keep your car. all the brakes are wired thru the switch and when activated the brakes were full locked. I had this on my C2 Fuellie and it was under the front carpet. When I got my 2000 I was thinking of adding it but the Z06 came out and FRC's were not popular as they were. I don't know if the company is still in existence but it kept the amateur thieves at bay

Just buy one of these. EASY PEASY.

www.emergingent.com/retail/cyclops/index.html

I have run one them on different vehicles for YEARS.
Even though it's easy to defeat, a thief is not going to hang around to troubleshoot your vehicle that won't start.

As a "just incase", hide the relay that you take out somewhere in the vehicle, so you can't yank out the remote controlled relay if it has an issue.

I would suggest getting the Revelco AND a few hidden GPS trackers. The sad truth is if a professional thief wants your car, they're going to get it. No kill switch or anything like that will stop them. You could have 20 kill switches. It doesn't matter. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. As mentioned, many will just tow the car away. The Revelco will be a decent deterrent. The tracker will allow you to track the car in real time if/when the car does get stolen anyway. Keep in mind that a thief who is prepared to get past the VATs system that is already in the car is likely to be prepared to get past a hidden kill switch.

Alternate perspective: make sure you have enough anti-theft to make your insurance happy, and make sure you have an agreed value policy. I'll be looking these up shortly for the Z06. It is going to be WAY more than kbb value when done. More like an upgraded ZR1 in C5 clothing.

yup. That's yet another part of this.
Check with Hagarty, I was able to get an agreed-to quote that, if the car was ever stolen, would without a doubt cover all the upgrades I've done to the car, plus the cost of the car.
And the monthly cost is pretty low.

I used an old floor mounted dimmer switch on my wife's car when she used to work at a mall with high chop shop car theft. Jumped it in on the fuel injection fuse. Fuel pump relay would work too.
It was up high on the far left side of the drivers floor away from the pedals, where the carpet ended, as they were placed back in the day.
No switches to reach for or be seen by anyone watching her, no extra keys to carry.
Be sure to tell your repair shop about it...
