I was in Myrtle Beach last week and the Myrtle Beach Corvette Club was hosting their 25th Corvette Show on June 4th. Hundreds of Corvettes from all over the southeast. The most interesting thing I saw was this BOSS BE7ACP-FT head unit in a C5 convertible. It fits right between the upper vent and HVAC controls. The owner kept the original speakers using a wiring adaptor. It's only 80 watts (20 watts per channel) but it sounded OK. I think it is a good compromise between double din and single din. The screen can swivel and can even detach for security reasons.

Thanks for posting pictures, I was thinking about that unit too. Still on my list. I liked that it wasn't too big that it blocked everything. I don't have the time to go full custom plastic carver, or blow money on dash kits that I always break. It plays music loud enough to hear? Check! Don't need to blow out my ear drums, or annoy others. Plus people like to hear me yell lyrics over the music anyway. 😆
My first car was an '84 Camaro Berlinetta that had a factory pod radio in it, so it's taking me back a little too! 😆
It doesn't look as bad as some that I've seen since it doesn't block the vents. However, it is still jarringly out of place. If it isn't flush with the console, I'm really not interested. Thanks for sharing though.
So I got the same head unit and it works great and so far no issues. I bought it form crutchfield a well known company and trusted their review of the item
, time will tell.
It has a volume **** and it sounds better than stock with the stock speakers.
The install was super easy, I took advantage of the wire harness hookup that crutchfield offers for 24.00 and it was just plug and play.
Yes It looks like an afterthought but I don't care, if I want I can put the car back to stock in an hour.

Interesting product and great that it does not block either the vents or the HVAC controls, but the appearance on the console is just not what I would want to look at all the time. But for those that like it, .
Take a look at the Pioneer 2660 NEX for in indash double din.
The Boss unit is interesting but I recently had a Pioneer 2660NEX Double din installed and it works beautifully. The installer told me that the sound would be greatly improved, even with the factory Bose speakers and he was absolutley correct. I also had a back up camera installed above the rear license plate so with these upgrades the car is good until they stop selling gasoline.
Who knows, at some point Elon or someone else will probalby offer an EV conversion kit and the C5 will be good for another 20 years? LOL.
You could add this to even the stock stereo, you unplug the car's antenna then plug in this cable. If you turn on the Sirius unit it comes through the radio antenna cable. when the thing is off the radio works like normal and picks up FM or AM stations. For my install I just ran the signal into the A/V input. Much cheaper on Amazon then Sirius website.
